Question on tints

Im looking to tint my max but im really not sure what tint to get. I was thinking of getting a precut kit from ebay but i dont know how hard it is to do by yourself. I think NY has a no tint law so i cant go to dark, anyone here have an example of 35% or 20%?

New York does have tint laws, apparently it's 30% max - http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NY/

Tint is one of the things you should let a professional do, and eBay 'precut' just screams bad idea.

I dont think it's a good idea to get pre-cut. You should just get a big roll for like $50 on ebay and cut it yourself. Also the tint % is different with each brand I think. Mine is 20% all around.

This is a pretty n00bish question but, seeing as how there are laws regarding tint- what about limos?

Do the laws not apply for limousines?

I also think its major BS having such strict tint laws in the state of florida where it can get to be over 100 degrees. But thats my opinion.

I have 35% tint that has the same heat rejection as most 5% tint. Get a professional to do it and get a good quality tint.

Limos and cars alike must have viewable (30%max)windshiels and front L & R windows. Anything behind the driver is legal to go black..

Lifetime warranty is only good on legal tint. Anything illegal and the warranty goes away. Just FYI.

If you want to keep it looking like there no tint I would get 35%. Anything lower and it gonna be pitch black at night. Also the tint darkness depends on the interior color. My friends 20% is dark all the time but he has black interior. I have 20% and it isnt really dark in the day. It still can be hard to see in but at night it is pitch black inside even with tan interior.

^ Is that like when people have tires they're selling and they say something like "good threads left" instead of good tread? I hate that ****. There's no 'H' in tread.

anywho....

Spend the money and get it done right

Mine is 20% rear, and 35% sides. I've been "pulled over for it" twice, but am yet to receive a ticket. I kinda wanted a lighter on the front two window's, but oh well.

Oh god, don't even get me started on that kind of stuff on the org...

My biggest one: 'i want to get my car dyno tunned' or 'how can i get it tunned with an afc'. All of a sudden the word 'tuned' has sprouted another mutant n.

I have 35% all around including sunroof. However, it's a metallic tint so depending on the amount of sun outside, it looks darker than it really is. I got my tint at Mt. Tint in Springfield, MA (1 hour and 15 min from Albany) for $195.

Here are the pics:

Also, I am from Albany, NY. I have blue/white LED's in my front corners, 35% tint, and no front plate. I haven't even been looked at by the cops. This might not apply in NYC...but just letting you know that you should be good with 35% as far as police are concerned.

i'm guessing y'all have some history, but nobody wants to read this kind of stuff. i know a lot of ppl from louisianna tint the windshield (i've done it in texas), and in houston everybody rides 5%.

i think it has a lot to do with what you can get away with, unless you're just a stickler for the rules.

I don't know the EXACT law here in PA, but no tint on the windshield, front left, or front right windows is allowed, but anything other than those 3 windows can be blacked out. although in my truck all my windows are 20% and rear is doubled up 5% over factory tint and no tint on my windshield and i get no hassles from anyone.

Sweet, thanks for pics and info guys. Ilyak, nice max, basically mine is the same right now, soon i'll have my Hid's and stillen kit, maybe i'll go for a half rear window spoiler. 35% looks good for me, but 200 to get it done sounds crazy. Guess i'll be saving up for a few weeks cuz i just bought my new H&R's.

Dark is nice, dont get me wrong, but 15% in the back is way too dark for me. Also i'd rather do 35% all around because i dont like to different levels of darkness, just bugs me(im OCD).

In DE its illegal for tint on front windows and L and R front windows. However, all you gotta do is get a tint slip from any state cop and take it to a physician or ophthalmologist and get them to sign it then fax a copy to dmv and keep one in your car. Any reason such as "wears glasses/contacts" is accepted. You will get pulled over, but show them the slip and they can eat a donut pissed about how they almost wrote a ticket and chief is going to kill them cause they're not meeting the monthly quota, cause you're legal.

I imagine other states that ban front tint have similar "slips".

Hmm...I should do this. How would wearing glasses/contacts be a valid excuse to have 5% tint? You got anything better I can work with?
