Matt, Craig, etc - Advice on speakers with UDP installed

I'm thinking about installing a basic system (no subs) and perhaps a HU to go with it. Will I run into problems since I have a UDP? What's the maximum output I can run and still be okay? Thanks.

you'll be fine with anything under 1000W with your UDP..

I tested my alternator a couple weeks ago, and it was putting out 70amps at IDLE with stock pulleys.. UDPs won't drop it down too much, so you should easily be putting out at least 40A at idle.. which will be enough to run about 4-500 watts without problems at all. and given the fact you're not running at idle most of the time, the alternator will put out much more than that most of the time, so you can safely bet on a pretty large system with no problem..

plus the current draw is that high only when you've got the system turned way up.. at "normal" listening levels, the system only uses a few amps of power.. most of the time it's well under 10A, even for my huge system (2300W total amp power).

So, in your case, you can add a couple amps, even subs and a big amp to your head unit and not have any problems.

will i be okay if i get an optima yellowtop battery, UDP and 3 amps? the amps i will have (most likely 3..maybe 2 though) are MA audio M680i(800w max@2ohms[i'll be running it at 3ohms]) either a rockford fosgate 250a2 (90x2@2ohms..i'll be running 4ohms per channel) or another MA audio 75x2, and maybe an MA 100x1. i'm also planning on many lighting upgrades(underbody neon, all sorts of accents and hottwirez). should i get a cap? 2 caps? HO altinator?
