I've never had S-techs on my 4th gen, but the people who have had them, state that they're exactly like their 5th gen counterparts, which I do have.

They have no rebound, they're too soft for their drop, and they LOVE to bottom out. But, they look good.

Comparing my Progress coilovers now to the S-Techs/Illuminas setup I had before, you will easily bottom out. Our roads here are fairly good so I've been able to tolerate regular potholes...which wasn't bad. The big ones jarr and really bang on the car, however...Then again, I also have 19's which magnify it all. Nice stance.

Don't bother. Illuminas are fine but for springs get Progress or H-Techs. Anything lower than that around here, and you will have to start fixing other parts sooner. Amongst them are axles, endlinks, ball joints, tie rods, even a steering rack at worse case scenario.
