Brake Pedal too Close to Gas Pedal

I continually touch the brake pedal when I wear dress shoes. Is there a mod or after-market brake pedal that would give me more room for my feet?

It may sound like a joke but when my foot goes to the gas pedal I'll touch the brakes. Even when I'm right against the center dash wall. I asked locally and I got a bunch a guys agreeing with me but no one with a solution.

Thanks for any help.

I wear dress shoes everyday and never had this problem (I have wide feet)...

How wide is your damn foot?

Standard width but a size 12 or 13 depending on the make of the shoe.

12 or 13...mines are only 8.5...btw, I'm Chinese..
Maybe you could find a small brake pedal.
I think there is another problem. How did you press the gas pedal? I think you put too much area on the gas pedal, just use the toe part, so you have to move your heel and your seat position.

I have the same problem, you gotta position your foot in just the right spot and it wont be as bad.

if your car isnt manual, using the brake pedal from a manual would give you a little more clearance...i would think

I am a 11/12 usually...

I guess just look around auto stores and try to find brake pedals that are a bit smaller.

Or hack away at the stock pedal...

I've been getting used to pressing the gas pedal with my toes but I was hoping to use this as an excuse to buy new pedals.
The dealership did have a couple options but the problem actually gets worse. They get closer together.
Its more difficult (for me) to be a lead-foot with only using my toes.

How long have you been driving the car? I have size 12 foot and found I had this problem for the first few weeks I owned the car, but now I have grown accustomed to it and actually like the spacing.

What happens to me now is that when I drive my truck and the spacing between gas and brake is further apart, I hit the gas by accident when I go to hit the truck brakes. As you can imagine, this could potentially lead to a bad situation.

I've only had this car for less then 3 months. I upgraded from a 4th gen.
I also drive a Honda minivan and an old Dakota more then my Maxima. Maybe if it was my daily driver then I would be used to it faster?
