NEW EXHAUST VID!!! 2.5" all the way...

K so i just dropped about $500 on this new exhaust from performance exhaust here in washington. I got a true 2.5" exhaust now, ypipe, new cat, new pipe from cat back, new muffler and new tip (unresonated)...

Now i have an older WS ypipe so it didnt have a flex section, but the "joint" that it did have was leaking so i had them replace the "joint" with flex pipe and now it sounds like a ****ing honda... Whats wierd is that before the flex section went in it sounded nice and throaty like it should...

some vids...

I think it just needs a resonator but i dont have monies...

So, I guess you have a VE (sorry, I'm a lurker member, so I'm not sure... all I see is 91 SE and assume VG).

To be honest, I love the sound of the car when it's approaching (the growl is wicked!!), then when I get the rear end, I'm reminded of all the sport-coupes with a beez-can.

Of course that just MY opinion! I'm happy if you're happy... no pun intended. I'd just like to get hit by your car from the front, rather than be dragged from the back, if ya know what I mean.

Yes this is a VE

Dont get me wrong... i think it sounds like a$$ from the back, i hate it.... The approaching sound is just the intake, which sounds amazing imo.

To me it seems like all you need to complete the Max's citrus conversion is the orange on the aerial and the fur on the dash and rear parcel shelf ............... oh and possibly the little plastic dog with the bobbing head for the sake of completeness.

the wsp y pipes have a lined flex section to eliminate that honda sound. your shop probably put in an unlined one.

You can have them install a resonator.

Depending on the price, you can have them use a glasspack as a resonator -- it is straight through and flows well. Just be sure the glasspack inside is larger than your exhaust and it doesn't hinder flow.

My GReddy resonator blew a hole in it and I had it replaced with a glasspack. It is only slightly louder and it seems to work fine. Sometimes when I am at a very high rpm (like near the redline) I get a very slight crackle out of it, but it's barely noticeable.

My car is still very quiet until I hammer the throttle. No droning or anything. I don't have a cat, either. You can ask D-Bo. I drove the Maxima down to Eugene and it was quiet. He even slept a good portion of the way back.

I called WS and they said they would send me a new lined flex to flange for $60 so i am just going to have them do that, it should get rid of the bee's in a can sound...

I have a glass pack magnaflow muffler which i like its just the flex pipe.

man did the muffler come with it, for me 250 is kinda steep but oh wells as long as you like it, listen to others in your area, so you can get a better ideal on muffler sound, when i got my 2.5 inch i had a pilot fartcan it was loud but then i switched to a flowmaster now it sounds better but ima put on a glasspack and see what it sounds like then

sheesh that's no savings.
you might as well as the local muffler shops how much to weld in a new flex section.

Really? still no raspy sound even with no cat

I have the WSP Y, magnaflow cat, and original stock catback and it gets raspy and tinny at high revs, but sounds good elsewise

I paid 65$ for the new unlined flex with install... so imo its a savings... stuff in WA must be more expensive than in Chicago. exhaust places charge $80 an hour around here at the least.

I think he means that you can get a full warpspeed exhaust for $549 shipped. That means you're going to end up spending more money for basically the same thing.

This what everything ended up costing me.
Magnaflow 2.5" ... $125
New Cat ............ $100
Piping ................ $125
Tip.................... $45
Flex pipe............. $65
WS flex.............. $60
TAX................... $40

Basically if i had done this the right way, and gotten all the parts myself off ebay and just had them install it i could have saved about $100+. But because im an impatient retard it ended up costing me alot more.

Could have been:
magnaflow w. tip.... $120
magnaflow cat....... $65
piping................... $125
New WS flex.......... $60

i got my VG done for $125 plus about $100 for the muffler i got off ebay.

Just a tiny bit at maximum acceleration. I mean only when you are going full out and it's mostly just the glasspack crackling a little. Otherwise, no. Everyone says they really like my exhaust sound. Especially the fact that at cruising speed and normal driving, it is nice and quiet. No droning or buzz at all.

I have a Cattman Y, no cat, glasspack (resonator) and a full GReddy cat back. The glasspack replaced the original GReddy resonator, which got a hole in it.

I installed everything myself except the welded in glasspack.
