1993 Maxima, Cutting the Cat

I want to cut my cat converter in my 1993 Maxima, would I run into any problems doing this?

Not unless you consider loosing low end power and torque a problem..

does he mean "cutting" or "gutting"......it would be kinda hard to "cut" the cat, you'd need some garden shears or something

Lemme tell ya from personal experience, I ride without a cat right now, and I hate that almost everyone and their mama can practically whup my @$$ off the line. Now, top end is a bit more than it used to be, but I miss being able to chirp my tires off the line...

If you really want one, I'll sell you mine already gutted. Why ruin a good one? That way, if you don't like it, you don't have to spend $150+ on a new one. PM me

I can vouch for the bottom end loss. Top end is marginally better, fuel consumption is about 10% better. I paid $40 bucks for a new section of pipe put in. They only have to ground the temp sensor on the cat, O2 sensor isn't affected. If you have emissions testing in your area you may get pulled up on it.
