hood lift supports - where to buy

Or hood struts.

I noticed my hood is beginning to come down by itself on cold days. A new set from Nissan is like over $160.

Where can I get a quality set for a good price?

Thanks

I called around about 2 weeks ago when I wanted em. AutoZone wanted like $40 each and did not stock the parts.

I ended up getting em at Advance Auto for $28 each with lifetime but thats a shop price, normal price at Advance was like $39.99

One of the dealerships here (Mid City Nissan) wanted $225 each for the hood struts!!! they do last 10+ years though, so its quality for sure.

Edit: woops just noticed I was on the gfs username, this is ColombianMax/Blootoof for the noobs

you know, mine have been "starting to fail" for about 6-7 years. i've been waiting for them to completely fail so i can replace them. i just don't feel like spending $50 on them if i don't need to.

to be honest, i'll never work under a hood again without something extra propping up the hood. even if they were brand spanking new, i wouldn't trust them. you learn that lesson when you're working on your car at 3am and it falls on your head

A few years ago I found a pair for $20 + shipping, and it ended up < $30. However they did not come with the part which actually attaches to the hood, so I ended up having to grind out the old stamped bolt and install the new ones with some hand-picked parts. I also had to fiddle with the bottom part, but dont remember what was going on there exactly.

So just make sure you know what you're getting, and if you pay $30-$40 for each that they have everything you need to just bolt on and go.

I like my 2x4 it works regardless of outside temp. Maybe when I get the car painted, I will have them paint the 2x4 to match LOL.

Should have "MAXIMA" carved into it as well and when you paint it just paint the letters metallic

well the original question was where to get them at a better price and I think Rock was verifying where to get them cheaper.
