Installing an AMP in a 1993

Hi,

I have a 1993 Maxima SE ... I managed to install the HU and Speakers, but now with the amp I can't seem to find a way to run the power cable to the battery ? Can someone please tell me how I can run the power cable throught the drivers side to he car battery (I believe this is called the Firewall).

thanks a million

You have to drill a pilot hole in the rubber grommet between the LH fender and door. You can access it by pulling down the splash guard in the wheel well. Be careful drilling the hole in the grommet, there is a bundle of wires you have to watch out for. It's a good idea to lube up the power wire to help feed the wire through.

Thanks for the quick reply Hectic.

I saw all the cables going in to the drivers side from the hood. Do you think it is possible to do this without drilling the whole ? Would it work if I were to remove the FL Tire, remove splash guard and just push the power cable through with the rest of the cables ? or is that just imposible ?

Thanks!

I don't know how much power your using for your amp, but it will probably be minimum 8 gauge wire, and there just isn't enough room to fit a wire that thick through any pre-existing holes in the firewall [to the best of my knowledge]

i just drilled a hole through the firewall when i had my 3rd gen. made things much simpler IMO. then i just snaked the cable down the driver side under the carpet near the door sills.

No Need To Drill Hole

I just installed two amps in my trunk a few months ago.
Run the power wire from the battery, via the wheel well and through the firewall already using the opening for the hood release cable.
Depending on the guage of wire you are using, there should be enough room to run it side by side with the hood release cable without modifying the opening.
