Warning to all 3rd gens out there!
Go out and check the condition of your rear suspension lateral links especially if you have high mileage or have ever had them worked on. Check for cracks around the welds where the arms connect to the bushing clamp (the part of the arm where the bushings go into).
I had one crack on my on the highway going 70mph yesterday. Luckily it was the rear most link and it caused the wheel to toe out severely, causing a violent shaking. I was able to keep it under control and stop but if it were the front link, it probably would have steered the car into the ditch.

Glad to hear you are alright, and it didn't cause a crash. That is a good bit of advice. Although I've given mine a once over to asses the condition of the bushings, I wasn't expecting any problems with the links themselves, and so I didn't look. Before things get too much colder here in the Northeast, I'll have to crawl under there again, and give those a good once over. Thanks for the warning.
Should've had a camera to grab an image of that thing cramed into your wheel well in reverse! I think it had something to do with your wheels, I'll help you get rid of them.....you know, for safety and all!
Haha, I've had those wheels for years. I got brand new ones off ebay for pretty cheap I remember. I think it was my first ebay transaction.
