If it's shaking there is a good chance that you need to replace the rotors as well.

check the condition of the pads. if there's material left on them, then just have the rotors turned. the shaking is caused by the rotors, not the pads.

I need to do new pads and rotors. The owner before me put some cheap pads and they get hot real quick. Gonna go ahead and do rotors at the same time. I probably have some Valucraft or Duralast crap on there right now.

if the rotors aren't warped, just keep using them.
go put on some Axxis MM or Hawk HPS pads on those rotors and you should be okay.

Meh turning rotors is old fashioned... you can get NEW rotors for a couple bucks more and the rotors will last longer than if the got cut/turned.

Get some rotors, AIMCOs will normally run you about 20-22 bucks each and for pads I'd suggest a better brand so you dont get squeaks or brake fade. I've heard a lot about Hawks *caugh Greeny caugh* but Raybestos (what I have) are decent. Bendix is also another excellent company.

Are you looking for performance braking or just everyday driving normal stuff?

I have always used parts from http://www.importrp.com

I just replaced the front brake rotors and brake pads on my 94 Maxima this weekend. It turned out great! Took me about four hours and I'm no pro. Stopping power is fantastic and everything went off without a hitch. I used the following:

Brembo OEM Replacement Rotors:
http://www.importrp.com/product.php?...4&cat=0&page=1

PBR/Axxis Metal MasterBrake Pad Set:
http://www.importrp.com/product.php?...1&cat=0&page=1

I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND NEW ROTORS to you because of what you are experiencing. If you are still have shaking afterwards, have your suspension checked out by a shop. Mine needed an alignment and a new lower ball joint. Everything is perfect now

Generally if you feel shaking in the steeringwheel when braking, it is the front rotors. If you only feel it in the pedal then it probably is the drums. This isn't 100% of the time though.

i had my uncle do my brakes. If i'd had the money i would have bought my own parts but I didn't, so they just went off and bought some crap. I ended up with 2 new wheel cylinders out back and a set of Duralast Golds up front. They were great for the first 10 (ten. one-zero) miles but chatter like a freaking jackhammer at the static friction threshold. my brakes are downright scary and I plan to fix them in the coming months along with the rest of the 'downright scary" maintainance needs of my car. brembo and hps is the call. i'm going for rear discs too. and if i ever crash the car i'll probably just get another 3rd gen max and demod-remod. to keep my good stuff compatible with my next ride if it comes to be such. unless i have like $10k to throw into a newer car. which i probably won't.

For a daily driver would I be fine with cheap rotors and good pads or are the brembo oem rotor's worth it?

even with track use, you'll be fine with cheap rotors and good pads. the pads are the key to a brkae system. the rotors don't matter so much.
the cheap stuff will warp easier if you abuse them- but keep in mind driving hard isn't abuse. driving it hard and then parking the car immediately after ("ridden hard and put up wet" comes to mind) or shocking the rotors by hauling *** up to 120 and slamming on the brakes when they're cold is abuse.....

treat the rotors fairly and any iron rotor should last. just be sure to get good pads.

Thanks, cheap rotors and good pads it is then. I would buy the stuff now but I want to check my car out before ordering and with moving and all that stuff I'll leave that to later; like a few weeks.
