Air Bag Challenge...

So I disconnected the air bag connector at the steering wheel (yellow connector) so I could work on the stereo, left it disonnected for a couple of days and even drove the car.
Now the warning AIR BAG light is blinking all the time. Looks like a messed up something, hope someone has the knowledge on an easy and non expensive way to fix it.

THS

Did you hook it back up?

If you have hooked it back up,then disconnect the negative battery cable for a about a 1/2 hour...Then try it again..

You may need to go through the reset procedure, which as it is previously detailed here before is wrong.
The correct procedure:
Get in the car, leave door open and turn the key to ON but don't start.
Within 10 seconds of turning the key to ON, push the switch in the door frame that lets on the courtesy lights 7 times.
Start the car without turning the key to off first.
Turn the car off and start again.

You may notice that the first time you start the car in this procedure the airbag light still blinks, but slower. The second time the light should go off after the initial lightup and then stay off.

That's the stuff that gets you into the BCM diagnostics stuff. you should see the one you have to do in order to get the tranny ECU to talk for the autos!!!

ign on..
ign off
ign on..
gas to floor
let up
brake
shift to 1
gas to floor
stand on head
brake again
gas, clutch, and brake (even though you have an auto)
turn ign off and on 3 times in 4.185 seconds

If you do it right, the tranny MIGHT go into the diagnostic mode.

I found this thread while searching. This trick did not work. I have 3 long blinks. I got myself to this because i was taking my dash apart to get to the broken clutch bracket to get it welded back on. I took the cover that covers the key cylinder and saw a two wires that is held in that cover. After putting every thing back together i got the annoying light of death. It just sits there and blinks blinks. I amost got accustomed to it but i have to put my hand to block it. Is there another way to reset. I have tried disconnecting the battery. I really dont want to take out the bulb. "safety issue"

I suggest you dive back into the area where you were working at,you may have pinched/broken a wire or something along them lines..

Yes, what he said.

The system will not reset simply because you perform the procedure. All faults must be corrected first in order to re-arm the airbag system. Do some more checking of all your connections, especially for bent pins down inside the connectors.
