brakes leaking- proportional valve?

Feeling desperate. Big brake fluid leak from what seems to be a rotted out proportional valve( just in front of the gas tank). Has anyone else replaced this valve? I found no reference to it in any forum.

Do I need to have one- it will delay repairing the max for weeks while stock is located. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks

I'm not aware of a valve of any kind at the rear of ANY car, it must be the "T" for the brake lines to each side????
The proportioning valve is at the front of the car, right side frame rail!

valve assy-load sensing

Actually apparantly you are right... my mechanic had the name wrong -although they seem to do a similar function. I believe it is the load-sensing assy valve (part #46400 near rear of car - in front of gas tank)

I think I am going to bypass (them),,, just wish someone else had done this and could advise me accordingly! Thanks for your reply

You never gave us a clue as to what year/model your car was, and I would say that you should not by-pass it, as it's for the anti lock brakes!!!!!

bypassed... driving in snow...

I apologize for the lack of detail. Detail (make/yr/model) is good.

92 se with antilock brakes, 5 speed. 380K JDM engine. Runs perfectly.

Mechanic bypassed part mentioned. Frankly I can't tell the difference in braking efficiency. I have in the few days that have passed experienced ice, snow and dry. Happy so far... no brake lock-up or any symptom that I can notice.... maybe it hasn't been working for awhile. Note: both sides were bypassed (rear)
