Any way to make reverse lights better?

Is it me or do our reverse lights totally SUCK!!! Is there a way to really brighten them up. I have these blue bulbs that are brighter than stock and they still suck. I saw someones Corolla backing up and the reverse lights were like a headlight. Any viable solutions?

I have superbright LED bulbs in mine right now and during the day they light up nice and bright, and at night there just amazing. If that doesnt float ur boat, i think I saw from umnitza a HID reverse light.

Yeah Deus, check JSmith's thread on replacing front and rear's with LED bulbs. I'm next to positive he did his reverse lights also.

yah the halogen disperses light more evenly, as where the the brightest parts of leds are only the bulbs. If you want a more even light output

you could make your own LED Board. Hopefully blackonblack98 doesnt mind if I use his picture.

Dues, I have already replaced my reverse lights with LEDs. They look better when looking at them, but still don't throw any light off when you are trying to back up. I think maybe HID is the only way to go if you want them to actually light something up for you...

Easiest way is to stick a regular 35W H3 bulb in there, many 5th gen members have done it.

are their seriously reverse light HID's? If so, I'd want it - my stock reverse lights suck, i can't see **** in the back plus i'm on 20 % Tints - i mean it's visible but a lot more brightness surely helps in the dark nights !

Heres a discussion about it on e46 fanatics. I remember seeing it on a bmw forum, and there were pics that went along with it. I'll try to find em

Only problem to HID reverse lights is that the short on and off cycle of reverse lamps will cause your HID bulbs to die prematurely.

Since their life span is long by default, it may not be a huge issue but worth noting anyway.

i dont understand the reason for this mod. is it so you can see where you are reversing at night? or so that other people can see you?

sounds like some people cant see behind them because of their tint, and some want to be more noticable when they reverse? Better look than a halogen?

No i dont think thats the total issue, take where I live for ex.. there are no street lights and yes i have smoked tint on my windows, but when its raining out or foggy its kind of hard to see sometimes. I guess I mostly rely on my sense and size of my car and know my surrundings. But still would be nice to see behind us

I have a REALLY hard time seeing behind me sometimes because of tinted windows and dim lighting outside.

If you can hardly see behind, is that light adequate for the rear view camera to capture any thing? Wanna know since I have been considering installing a rear view camera for a while.

Wow, do you have HID? My high beams are rediculously bright and light up the whole world, it seems like. In fact, my wife has a newer pathfinder (2005), and hers does not have HID - now those brights really suck....

My fathers 07 ES350, you can't see anything backing up but with the backup camera you see everything, probably cause the backup camera is usually right where the light is

Im gonna add a backup camera, $750

Me too... What backup camera are you looking at for $750? Are you planning to hook it up to the stock display?

I have the stock Nav but the camera and install price is 750, the guy I deal with only sell Pioneer, and it has it's own display screen that will need to be mounted, don't know the actual name/brand.

I would look around $750 is way steep. There are a lot of good systems that you could integrate for cheaper...

I'll see, most likely I will pay it and never look back, they are pretty much known for their quality and if anything goes wrong they fix it, they give a lifetime guarantee with the work, I've tried so many times to save money with my car but in the end it just never works out that way.

I just quoted the 750 price, he told me that for a 2006 Maxima but I have no idea what the camera actually cost by itself, and I was there with a friend who is gonna have some work done so I just asked questions about his car.

works for all cars - requires some modification of housing - in your case you may get an error if your computer senses rear lights out.
