RF CV axle moves

So I was under my car today and noticed something peculiar. I'm not sure if this is normal or not since I had the axle replaced about a year ago. It slides maybe a cm back and forth. I didn't really try to move it up or down, but I thought once the snap ring is in place, there shouldn't be any play where the axle goes into the transaxle housing.

Anybody?

EDIT: LEFT FRONT, DOH

I replaced mine last week... does the same thing. There is a slight play in it but I'm not sure if it's suppose to be like that or not. Considering the ones I took off were fu<ked up for real.

That doesn't seem right. I just replaced my right front (passenger) side CV and it doesn't have a snap ring to hold it in but it is basically held in place by a bearing mount with 3 bolts about halfway between the wheel and the transmission housing. You might take a look at those bolts and make sure they aren't loose. Good luck.

It could be a sign of a bad transmission bearing if the axle moves up and down and side to side.

Ugh, I don't know what I was thinking. It's the left front CV axle, not the passenger.

there is some play in the cv joints, but you should only be able to make them pull out if there is room to do so, which there shouldnt be

Don't have the ability to take pictures, I'm away from my car with family right now. It doesn't come out completely, but it does have a little lateral play, so I guess I'm alright. Thanks for the response guys.
