If you have at least 10K (preferably 15K) miles with dino oil on your engine, it should be fully broken in and ready for synthetic.

Since you are getting ready for a New Jersey winter, 5W-30 is the VERY EASY CHOICE.

If you lived where the temps were not going to drop below freezing before your next oil change, you could go with either. If you lived where the temps were going to regularly top 90 degrees before your next oil change, I would lean to the 10W-30.
