ok...

i was a little rambunctious when i installed my carbon fiber interior..and i used a hair dryer a little too late..

i have two pieces that didn't stick on all the way.. is there special adhesive i need or can i use some good two sided tape to reinstall the pieces???

theses pieces are in.. but the corners are not bent all the way..


any info would be helpful..

 

Some pretty sticky double sided tape should work fine, but some double sided tape is not very strong.

 

Double sided tape won't work. The 3M stuff used on those kits is stronger than anything you can buy in a regular store. As you guys know, I sell aluminum dash kits so I've installed quite a few of them. When we have problem pieces, we usually use superglue. Especially since it's just a small corner. Nothing else is going to work in a small area like that.

 

ok.. the pieces between the radio and the climate controls is the main concern.. the solid piece did not bend and is not contoured to the slope of the car..(shadow should know what i am talking about)

i gueess i need to reheat that piece again and quickly add super glue underneath...


i guess i can call the company and see if they will give me or should i say sell me two pieces..

 

Hopefully you purchased your kit from a reputable dealer. Many places WILL NOT sell individual parts from kits. I know from experience. I did manage to find a place that was able to sell me just the piece I needed for a reasonable price. Email or PM me if you want the contact info for this place.

 

ok.. i contacted the company and they said to send the pieces in and a nominal fee and they will replace the pieces ...

 

you could also try spray adhesive by 3M, this stuff is nasty!!! it is sooo strong.. but for one small corner heat it up and glue it down..

 

When installation any type of dash kit but especially real brushed aluminum. It's always a good idea to preform the pieces. They all come flat during shipment. If you don't preform, you are taking a chance that some won't sit flush with the dash. I also used bunch of masking tape to hold them all in place befor hand. This way I could adjust the pieces so there will be even gaps between all of them before I started on the first piece. The following link shows you how to preform the pieces. Did you try a real heat gun? They can heat up the ahesive so it will be sticky again.

but it looks like i will be buying more pieces and reinstalling them...correctly this time..

 

Also preparing the surface is very important. If you used Armorial on you dash you need to use a small amount lacquer to get it clean and then follow up by using alcohol to get the lacquar up.
