Weight Reduction for All GXE Owners
If it's a repost, it's been awhile...although I never knew about it.
Apparently the weight shown below (located under that little hump thing at the back of your trunk) is in all GXE models for weight distribution / ride comfort or something...Don't know for sure, but I heard SE's don't have this thing. It weighs 20-25 lbs and is completely useless...
Besides, my subwoofer / box is mounted in almost the same spot and wieghs almost the same, so my ride comfort isn't affected!

Just an FYI for newbies (and old pros who never knew about it...)

Well, if you really want to lose weight you can ditch the motor...if you can manage only to drive downhill...

Here, I got one: remove the high-density foam piece and bumper reinforcements from behind the bumpers - if you don't care what happens to the car in an accident.
remove cruise control, get a smaller (hawker) battery, fiberglass fenders/hood/bumpers/trunklid, remove that god awful weight you found, and replace various steel reinforcements with lighter and stronger aluminum ones....etc. etc.......
Lets see what else...
screw rear brakes you only use the fronts anyway, power rear windows? bla real racecars like SRT4s have crank in the rear and you should too.
Bla screw it, I'm tired
well some of what you say is effective, but the maxima is still meant for luxury as well, so no need to remove the amenities that are commonly used (minus the cruise) lol
also, getting lexan windows might be a PITA for the maxima.... ;x
we've done a decent amount of weight shaving lately...and there's more to come. ;x

bingo right on that one, but what is more important to you comfort or speed, you do drive a maxima after all. anyone that took theirs out wanna send me their bolts I wanna put mine back in.
I read a book where japan hid nukes in cars only in there it was in the alternators

that 20lb isn't going to make a difference in weight distribution. have any of you actually corner-weighted your cars? and I don't mean just driving the front end on a truck scale then backing up to it.. a good, quality corner weight system.
cliff's notes: you'd have to move about 400lb from the front to the back in order to even out the weight distribution. that 20lb is a drop in the bucket.

oh yeah.. it's a VG.. I think I remember reading somewhere a while back that all the VGs had the weight. the VGs were already slow enough, so I guess they figured another 20lb in the trunk couldn't hurt. poor saps, you VG owners.
I'd rather have my VG than my neighbors VE that has that notorious ticking...ahhh man every time she starts it up...i have to resist laughing...but the VG's has pretty nice power...and is a V6...not a 4 banger...
my gxe will do a 16.3 with an exhaust leak. all i have is WAI and some of Aaron's spacers. hp gain at wheels maybe 6 from those mods.
