my first 3rd gen was a 93 SE 5spd. I have to admit, that thing ran like a scalded ape. it was so much fun to rag on. I bought it to sell to i turned it around real quick. Maybe people rag on those motors and they get pissed, thus the VE becomes suicidal.

My VE did a 15.2 bone stock (at 160k miles), clacking VTCs and all. 14.7 with WAI and decent tires.

And my VTCs don't tick (anymore)... only thing I can hear at idle is the IACV and the injectors ticking away.

for all you VG guys that like to knock the VE, you sure have a lot of problems of your own.........

welldurrh you gots 12 more valves and a stick. One of which I can fix on mine... and will be doing.... this coming year. It's my New Year's Resolution to do a 5spd swap. That's a WAY better weight reduction than the dumbell anyhow.

What's the tranny got to do with it? Aaron's car will leave mine in the dust and it's an auto. (man I hate saying that....)

according to him the 5spd swap will be my 'biggest go-fast mod' that I can do n/a. And he said that in reference to drag racing also. Maybe not the case given the VE powerband? Ionno if what he said only applies to just VGs or not. But he's done a ton of airflow work and he's got spray so if you had spray you still think he'd whoop you?

yeah he has major weight reduction and a hi-stall TC (hits at 3k i think) whereas you have to start from the bottom of the VE powerband when you take off.
