Still have exhaust leak.

I took my car to a speedy shop to get the exhaust checked out prior to an E test. (New cat and muffler 1yr) they checked the main exhaust , cemented a small leak by a welded joint. And basically said the exhaust was fine, (said it was ready for E-test but didnt have onsite facilities to do it.

It seem they failed to notice the rear manifold area had a leak.

I found this out after taking it in to another shop for an E-test and haveing them refuse the test due to the exhaust leak.

(in reality, it seems to be small leak (havent pinpointed exact location yet) and the car would probably pass E-test as its got a new cat converter and 02 senor) But that requires finding a garage willing to overlook that.

After getting ripped off almost a grand to have someone fix the front manifold, I will definitely be attempting to fix the rear one on my own.

Anyhow, I read through Mattblehm's writeup on repairing mainifolds. I dont know if I can just skip the steps for the front manifold (as it's fine) and just follow the steps for the rear. Do I still need to take off the Y pipe before I remove the cross member and support the engine?

Wow... Well, I actually DID search.. In fact, I plainly stated that I had read someones writeup on the issue. And posted questions based on said writeup.

But to humour you, I tried searching for more posts, and didnt find relevant responses.

What I need to know is:

On Mattblems writeup, can I skip the removal steps for the first manifold, and just remove the Y pipe, crossmember (support engine via oilpan) and try and fix the rear?

How many studs/washers/ etc, do I need to buy from Nissan to do the rear?
I'm assuming I need three gaskets for this job. (2 for Y pipe and one for rear manifold head attachment)

Actually.. I looked under the car quite a few times. I didnt just come on here and whine about an exhaust leak. I read about how to fix it.

I posted two questions which required clarification. (I can make my best guess as to the answers on both), but I was seeking advice from those who have performed the repair, so I dont screw sometime up and destroy my engine, or have it fall and crush me or somethign while trying to get the manifold off.

Anyway, that being said, Thank you greenmax, I got most of the info off the articles you posted.
