PowerSteering Pump

My mechanic just called me and said that the powersteering pump seized. That's why I lost my powersteering and that's why my car was overheating because the powersteering belt runs the waterpump too.

What would be the reason for the powersteering pump seizing? Could there be a leak someplace in the powersteering system and all my fluid ran out?

Maybe a leak, but most likely, just a bad pump, that usually go out around 100K. Mine went out at 120K.
