Japanese Classic Car Show

I wanted to make sure you newer gen Max owners are seing that the 1st Gen cars are starting to get some old-skool respect. This car is a '81 or '82 model.

I really liked the Datsun 810 from which the Datsun Maxima evolved, but the first year Datsun Maxima was the car that stole my heart. I have loved nothing but Maximas ever since. For me, EVERY Maxima generation is a classic.

That gen Maxima is RWD. My friend had one before and he swapped an RB25DET in it, it almost bolts right in with minimal modifications apparently.

hot wax tree - I also liked the 510, and was actually at the Datsun dealer test-driving a 510 (couldn't quite swing the price of the 810) in April of 1978 when I was suddenly 'incensed' by a cute little 200SX. It was silver with a big wide white stripe trimmed in black across the back, trailing up the sides to the front bumpers. It also had a neat spoiler and a 5 speed manual. I got it new for $4,000. My daughter immediately confiscated it, and drove it everywhere she went for many years.

A co-worked of mine drove a baby blue Datsun 2000 convertible throughout the 1970s. I always enjoyed riding with him. That car was chick-bait at the time.

Just to be clear, 78 510 is not even close to the 68.5-73 Datsun 510! But props on the 240 and the Roadster. You're lucky to be alive with those Roadster brakes!

Funny how some of you talk about test driving these cars when they were new... I wasn't even born yet. Props to you OG's
