Lividity, Legality, and Y-pipes

For those who have been caught using a y-pipe, what types of penalties were incurred? How much was the fine?

As far as e-check is concerned, how much clearance do you get with the various in each test (do you get a lot of headroom for the max allowable limit of emissions?)?

Do all of you install youselves, or do you go to a shop to get it done? Will exhaust shops do the installation or will the refuse due to legality issues?

When you get your max serviced (I realize a lot of people on the org service themselves) have the employees ever given you trouble concerning the legality of the y-pipe?

The ask because the med school gods have smiled upon me and sent me a three hundred dollar refund check and I want something to go with my JWT intake, yet I can't decide between a WSP Y, or an Apex-i WS catback.

also, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the sound of a stock exhaust, and 10 being a crazy loud civic coupe exhaust, how would you rate either or?

Thanks
RL

The chances of you getting caught with a Y pipe are about a million to 1. I have gotten a ticket for excessive exhaust and got it written off with my y pipe still on. Also I pass smog with my Y pipe on.

Yeah, they say the emission wont fail as long as you let the car warm up for about 5mins.

Acutally most all cars NEED to be warmed up for at least 5mins, cause the highest amount of polution happens in the beginning 5mins because the car is cold and is using excessive gas to keep it going. This is why your gas mileage sucks during the first 5mins, especailly if all you do is 5-10min trips all day all the time.

Not just that the car is using more fuel to warm up... but the fact that the CAT need to be hot to work correctly.
