Alarm Wiring Colors for Power Door Locks Help!

Was wondering if anybody knows the location and color wire for interfacing the Maxima power door locks with an aftermarket alarm. For example, most install documents that I have seen suggest a light blue wire (some say light blue with silver dots) is the unlock wire and needs a negative trigger to unlock the doors. Some documents say driver kick panel while others say to the right of the steering column. I've tried every light blue wire, with and without the silver dots on it behind the driver kick panel and to the right of the steering column, and when I ground it, none seem to trigger the door locks (the documents say negative trigger for the locks).

If you've done this or have any insights as to where to find the wire (location), and color, or as to why this isn't working for me, that'd be great. Thanks! BTW, the doors lock and unlock from the power door lock switch fine.

One more terrible thing, the install documents that I have seen say the orange wire with black stripe is the door trigger/dome light supervision wire, and that it is a negative ground system. However, up in that corner, there are like 6 or 8 wires that are orange with black stripe. Help!

Forgot to add, it's a 1990 Max SE Auto in case the wiring colors or locations changed through the years. Thanks.

go to my webpage, then go to the directory for alarm wiring colors or whatever, then to your year car.

Cool Thanks!

But... I went to check it out.. and it also states that unlock wire is light blue in harness from driver's door, and there are like 4 light blue wires around that area (hard to locate exact harness as there are many harnesses on top of each other in that are). I've tried splicing into each one separately, and then grounding the wire to unlock, but it doesn't work. Do you remember which wire you used? Thanks again!

because you have a 90SE, you are in for some fun

yes, the door lock and unlock and red/grey and light blue

good luck finding it in the kick panel (there are about 60 or so wires there and I couldn't find it)
because you have a 90SE, you DONT have a door lock timer (which is the easiest place to get it, right under the steering column)
you also DONT have stock keyless so you cant get the wires from the box under the passenger side dash

when I did it on Jason F's 90SE, I had to get it on the harness coming in from the door

remove lower dash (I assume you alread have taht part off)
remove fuse box (large phillips head screw at bottom and clip on top)
move that out of the way and you should be able to see a hole (abotu 4 inches in diamter or so) that goes into the body panel on the left
there should be a large bundle of wires going in there
this connects to 2 harnesses I think
pull at this bundle gently and try to get your hand in the hole and feel around for the harnesses because they like to get stuck in there
if you work at it enough, you will be able to pull the harness you're looking for (I think it has something like 10 or 14 wires on it in 2 layers)
you'll only be able to pull it out a few inches past the body panel so you'll have to do some wiring in that cramped area
unplug the harness coming out and you'll have a little more room but still not a lot

good luck and let me know if you have any more questions
also, my site has wire color codes too if you need any more

when you finally get it, put the dash back together, close your door and kick the crap out of your car for being such a pain and not having a door lock timer in the first place

Thanks for everyone's help on this! I the description of the harness to look for (the number of wires and location to find it) helped quite a bit as the wiring harnesses coming from the fenderwell were all taped up so you couldn't see the colors behind it. Knowing that approx thickness of the harness helped a bit (the smaller bunch!). Got my alarm/keyless entry installed and works great! Again thanks for everyone's help!

Thanks Craig! When I saw that last part about the shift ****, I was thinking what? Then it hit me you bounce in and out of both forums too ... and I started cracking up. I'll probably get to the shift **** after this weekend.
