The main airbag control module is under the center console, and IIRC the sensors are in the bumper. Sorry to hear about that man. Rte. 20 is a fun road to drive on when there is no traffic tho...

I thought the airbag module just sensed impact itself, no external sensors? I've had my bumper off once or twice, never seen one. Same on an A33B, haven't seen a sensor up front.

Ok so we're good now?

Looks like the impact was up above the bumper, into the headlight and grill area. That area is soft so most of the impact was absorbed by the vehicle. The airbag is triggered by the impact or force sensor which is part of the SRS module which is located under the center consol storage compartment. Being the area where the main impact happened crushed easily, there wasn't enough of a jult to trigger the bags. I hope you had your seatbelt on. The car looks like a total loss or very close to it. If the bags were deployed, it would definately be a total loss.
Keep us posted.

Correct, and for the side airbags (if you have them) there are LH and RH satellite sensors located somewhere near belt pre-tensioners.

sorry dude, glad to see you could stand and take those pics afterward
and IMO it dosent look like you'll be getting it back....just a nice check from insurance. Off to look for another max. !
Sometimes all this modding seems so pointless because you can loose it all in one second (weither your fault or not).

were the roads bad? Well yah good thing u didnt get hurt.. but next time make sure not to be really close to peoples rear wen it is bad out... I always stay about 20 ft back from ppl wen the roads are snowy...

also if it was not that bad out and a little slippy.... i kno our wondering ABS will turn on if one wheel slips and u loose stopping power that way if say all other 3 wheels were on solid dry tar.

Damn sorry to hear that, but lluckily your ok.

If the airbags deployed it's totalled, not even for the cost of the airbags, but I've found the G sensor inside the module (that deploys the bags, to njmaxseltd) does a damn good job at also determining major damage to the car. read: if they went off, the car is fubar'd
