Max whp on VQ

I was planning on slapping a turbo on the car until I got some ideas from other people about just building the motor. I want to reach at least 300whp all motor on my VQ35DE. What would that require, if its even possible? Thanks for any input and suggestions.

From: Auburn WA,
Full tune, ecu with raised rev limiter, ssim, quality headers, remove AC, remove PS, cams, thermal intake spacers, and a quality exhaust system and you will be on the way. This should give you 260-270 whp. I don't know where you can find the extra 30-40 hp. Maby just throw on a simple 35 shot of nitrous but thats not na is it

power steering and a/c must stay. if its not possible, im not doing it. but yeah, nitrous isnt n/a. thanks for suggestions though. you dont think porting everything would make it?

300whp is going to need higher compression, cams, custom header tuned for the compression and cams. Also a custom intake manifold would help as well, IMHO if a VQ35HR IM could be used start with that.

A P&P would really help.

Im not extremely knowledgeable, but I'm sure NmexMax or Das or someone will step in.

What about fuel rails, injectors and pump? Do you want to build it? (i.e. rings, pistons, heads, etc...?) When you really push it, things like a ported TB, larger MAF housing, etc...are what make the little differences.

Just trying to throw out some ideas in case I might be of help.

Oh, and IMO, yes its possible.

Edit: Does anyone know(for mine and his knowledge) what the max compression you could run on a VQ?

its been done on a couple(read: handful) of z's. you need a lot of work including internals such as pistons, rods, fully balanced/blueprinted rotating and reciprocating assembly. you also would find yourself likely to need head work with the possibility of oversize valves. the most important would be a serious tune, not just your typical vafc tune. you would need timing, fuel, raised rev limit, possibly fuel delivery timing and a v-manage for the vtc's would help. cams for the higher rev limit would be a must as well. basically, youre looking at quite a list, but since its on a vq you could get over 300whp NA and still have a relatively nice powerband under the redline. obviously, you would also need a very effective intake and exhaust (intake manifolds upper and lower need port matching and probly an all together different manifold) this might help too

the point: it will be costly, but when finished would be quite the joy to drive fast

thanks alot for the help. this is what i know if being done. cams im sure too.

- Carillo H-beam rods
- 8.5:1 OR 10.5:1 JE pistons
- JE rings, wrist pins and spiral locks
- Cometic MLS head gaskets
- ARP head studs
- New timing components, bearings, seals

probably have everything ported as well.

What you have listed there won't even get you 270 WHP.

Here are the most crucial items in order of importance IMO...

Aggressive cams + a way to modify cam angle/air fuel/timing (doesnt necessarily have to be the same device doing all three)
Headwork + modified OEM or aftermarket intake manifold
Bottom end and valvetrain modifications to support the necessary revs reliably
Higher compression (10.5:1 doesnt qualify as it's only .2 points higher than stock)
etc.

I am swtching the race car from the 3,0 to a 3,5 this winter and I will get a dyno run on the stock motor with the Motec. I get over 200 whp from a stock VQ 30 with just the Motec and headers and the motor is rated at 190 hp. It seems like the power is in the motor but do to emission constraints and so on you can't get it out without a stand alone ecu

What type of dyno was it on? Was a dynojet? If so, do you have the runfiles?

I'm an NA guy, so an NA build would do it for me. DE/HR hybrid.

on the DE/HR hybrid.

I say that if the car didn't come with forced induction, keep it that way.

Although this may not be down your road, you may not realize how much lightning the car a little does for the car does, but it goes a long way. Nothing drastic, but every pound counts.

yeah thats not for me. i like my full interior sentra running high 12's. the ****tiest thing i think someone can do to their car is take stuff out to make it lighter. i just think its ugly. i do like the idea of all motor.. oh well, we will see.

there was a good article in Superstreet (i think...) not long ago about all motor/na vs forced induction. imho all motor gets really ugly real quick. if i was going to extract any additional power from my motor, i'd start building a supercharger kit. but.. you do whatever you like.

Obvious much? All-motor has been the most expensive way to mod since modding began. It's always easier to attach a snail, or a blower, or add more displacement to something as far as making power goes. Nitrous is the king of bang-for-buck. Doesn't mean you'll ever find the stuff in my car though.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck or you think all-motor sucks because it's soooooooooo expensive simply means it's not for you and you've missed the point completely.

Stroke that baby to 4.1L, get yourself some custom cams, custom headers, custom engine management and BAM: 300whp. All speculation of course. I'm sure if you plop 7K in to a reputable shop's lap they could make it happen.

I'm sure they have. Theres a kit out for the VQ35DE that strokes it to a displacement of (iirc) 4.3 liters. Not worth the money though.

Loose a couple of pounds and you will feel a little quicker.

Oddesy battery, lighter wheels, manuel seats from a GXE, no 100 lb. sub in the trunk...One less meal a day won't hurt either.

there's at least one that i've heard of - that dude that spent like $30k on his altima. dude just threw money at it left and right. absurd to the nth degree.

to get more to the root of your question - because they cost what, $8000 or something? gtfo (not you, the guys that charge $8000 for a displacement increase).

If your 3.5 ecu is reflashable, then I'd try reflash with revised ign/fuel/cam timing. Depending on where you live. I didn't see you mention how your a/f was doing.
