Few questions for my first audio install

I picked up a sony HU and some infinity speakers for the 4th gen today and Best Buys install prices were rediculous so im going to try and install it all myself. First question is the front door speakers, do i need to take the door panel off? I can but i really hate to, so i wanna know how much time this is taking up before i get halfway in and realize i've gotta go to work. Next is the HU, i've read up on how to take the stock one out and all but where do you guys get the pocket from since ours is double din? Honestly any help in any way or any tips to make life easier is a big help because i've never done much electrical(though i do solder and crimp fairly well).

Just for reference heres what i picked up, 4 speakers and the HU.

door panels need to come off to change front door speakers.
metra or scosche should make a dash/radio kit for your car, i'm surprised the salesperson at best buy didn't offer you one.

do you have a factory bose setup in your car? that would make your install quite different i think.

Install would just require speaker wires ran if equipped with bose.

Door panels need to come off, they can be taken off in about 30 minutes for both. I would suggest while you have them off be sure to deaden the doors. It being your first install, double the expected time.. I'd say 3 hours total to remove panels and install front speakers for noobs .

Ok so since im planning on doing this today, let me make sure i got this right. I need to remove all door trim, door light, handle thing, pop bottom screws out, then loosen the speaker, or do i not touch the speaker until the door panel is completely off and i bring it someplace else to work on?
As for the HU i have the standard one, the non bose. As for the kid at BB not asking if i need the trim kit, well he was definately new to the car audio section because he couldnt even quote me what size speaker i needed.

just a heads up, infiniti speakers require alot of power and if your running them on just the sony HU and no 4channel amp they wont sound that great. Ive had 2 sets of them and learned the hard way.

speakers
Peak Power Handling
180W

RMS Power Range (Watts)
60

headunit
52 watts peak power (17 watts RMS) x 4 channels

they will be way under powered. I would bring them back and pick up some pioneers or something that will sound good on a HU amp. Or buy a decent 4 channel amp for the inifinits.

every coaxial/component is this way. its not just Infinity... stop feeding him misinformation (pioneers are better fit bs).

If you're going to take it to some place to have it worked on, why bother take the door panel off? they'll do all that for you.. you arent going to save yourself money. As an installer, Id rather you'd left it alone so i would know where all the screws came from/you couldnt blame me for 'breaking something'.

You're going to need a kit, harness and antenna adapter.

Metra 99-7417, 70-7550, and the antenna adapter i cant recall.. N11 or something (im rusty with my metra numbers)

good luck

No im not bringing it someplace to have the work done, i meant bring the whole door panel inside my house to work on easier. Im just wondering if i need the door down bare or can it be worked on with just the bottom popped loose. As for adding an amp, i eventually will so i can get the most of these speakers.

the panel needs to come off completley, it will make it a hell of a lot easier. It really isnt hard to remove. There isn't any work that needs to be done to the panel itself.. the speaker is attached to the door, is that what you're talking about?

Yep, thanks alot guys, i know noobs are annoying but you provided alot more help than you probably realize. I didnt buy component speakers and know im wondering if i needed to because we have seperate tweeters(thats what those things are by the door handles, correct?). Will the built in tweeters on the infinitis interfere with the stockers?

you will not use the stockers. as said, the speakers are attached to the door, just the grill is in the panel. do you have bose?

blackonblack, the bose issue has already been discussed.

OP, just disconnect the stock tweeters, it would mess with your imaging if you left them connected. Yes, you should have bought a component set if you were planning on getting an amp down the line, but alas, live and learn.

underpowering speakers is never a good idea. Infinitis require alot of watts to sound "good". Theyll work just fine off a HU alone, but the difference between stock and those is gonna be very minimal. Espically with a Sony HU.

Im not basing you for what you purchased. Its a nice little setup for a first timer and If you do it right it will sound good. Ive had 2 different sets of Infinity speakers and they dont sound good when theyre underpowered. As for Pioneer, I recomended them because they have a tendency to require less power for the level of sound you get out of them.

just my .02

Well so heres what i did, because the fronts i later realized were components and as a noob i didnt know what that meant, i went back to Best Buy and returned 1 pair of the infinitis. The other pair i'll use on the rear deck. But as for the front im going to find a lower rms component speaker that could get me by. As for the HU i simply got the metra accessories so i can wire it up and mount it but unfortunately i didnt have time today.

It doesn't take much to beat a stock 4th gen stereo. The original poster could've even picked up one of those funky Dual HU's with matching coaxials and see improvement.

I may have exzagerated just a bit lol. Like I said before, Ive actually owned very similar Infinity speakers and they just dont put out HQ sound with low wattage.
