Wanna do a Vq30dek swap into fourth gen

I am a proud 4th gen owner and was thinkin bout putting a 00vi in but my car has 321k (yes i did say 321k) and i wanna turbo it so thats why im going with an entire dek swap. The problem is i dont know where to start(like if i will need a 5th gen transmission or ecu and what do i have to upgrade besides the engine etc. If anyone can help me find a write up or head me in the right direction, i would greatly appreciate it.

why not do the 3.5 swap if you are going to swap engines anyways? Then put the turbo on and you'll have one fast max.

You and Qbridge had the 1st useful posts here lol

ANYWAYS, Why not swap the 3.5? cus depending on how much boost he wants to run, 3.0 may work better due to the stronger bottom end.

a V8, you do it and make a write up, lol. I wonder if the 96 taurus SHO V8 would fit in our engine bay? that POS motor, lol

I thought about doin the 3.5 swap but after reading some of the threads about the dek vs. 3.5, it seemed like alot agreed that the dek was more aggressive. Also by the time i decided to get a new engine and turbo it, i had already bought a spec clutch, crank pulley, and flywheel for the 95-01 maximas. so that means all that stuff would go to waste.

I don't know what source you're using for your info but it's not accurate.

all of that stuff works on a 3.5 exactly like it does on a 3.0 - as far as the notion of the DE-K being "more aggressive" - I have no idea what that even means. it makes no sense. 3.5 will make more power - end of story.

Thanks for the link I just finished reading all of the threads. Now im just compiling a list of what i need to buy and reuse from my 4th gen.

Also is it wise for me to get a new tranny if and if so do i go with the 5th gen tranny? And as far as cams which are better greddy emanage or 3.5L stock?
And does anyone know where i can get a decent priced low mileage dek because i looked on car-parts.com and they are like $1000 for a decent mileage engine.
(sorry for all the questions i'm the only one i know that work on cars)

Greddy doesn't make easy or pro cams for the VQ, in a way I like that

5-speed trans: minor differences between 5th & 4th gen models, to the point that they are nearly identical and it's a moot point to use one or the other, whichever one you can find for a good price & rebuild the bearings on before putting it in with the de-k would be the best way to go about it. Also, the VLSD in canadian max's, infiniti I30's, and 2001 AE maximas is something else you should research. There is lot's and lot's of info about tran's failures & rebuilding info, the fsm is the best source for rebuild procedure.

With 320k, you should also take a look at the radiator core support even though you don't live up north. RESEARCH this

Honestly, you will stumble upon all of the info you need if you spend enough time on this site. People tend to be rude to new members also, so researching as much stuff on your own before posting will help with that alot, that way people won't make fun of you when you mention that you are thinking of Greddy cam's.

Here's two more links to get you started:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=400691

http://www.vq35de.com/ESM/

I can sell DE-K's for $500, you could pick it up or I could ship it for a fair price, they are solid engines, 6-month warranty, and include the entire wiring harness right up to the ecu, my phone # is below if you're interested. If you get an ecu/ignition/immobilizer (Research NATS) & spend alot of time in both the 4th & 5th gen FSM's and are decent with electrical/wiring you could have a very unique set up.

KRRZ350 you have given alot of great advice, and thanks for being kind to newbies. it can be a little intimidating when looking around and seeing all the posts that make fun of questions that are worded wrong or use "improper" terminology. you have answered alot of my own questions here about doing an 00VI switch in my 99. thanks alot
