To HID with white or yellow bulbs in yellow IS300 projectors?

I retrofitted IS300 projectors into my fogs. I did not shave down the yellow film because I wanted the light output to be yellow. I have regular white 9006? bulbs in there right now. If I want it to be brighter, do I want to get some HID 3000k(yellow bulbs) or some HID 4300K( pure white) bulbs? Basically what I want to know is, will it be brighter with the yellow light going through the yellow lense? or the white light going through the yellow lense? Thanks

Well if you do choose to go hid the 3500 or 3000k on some sites will be brighter than 4300k any day . So if you are going to get hids go ahead and get the yellow casules. I plan to run fogs next year and i will be runnig 3500k yellow hid capsules in mine also.

I think they should be similar output-wise. Around 4300K is the optimum color temp for output, the yellow film should cut that down to about what a 3000K puts out. Personally I'd either shave off the film and get 3000K or get 4300K and leave it. Yellow bulbs AND yellow film seems a bit much IMO.

yellow bulbs are actually brighter than the 4300k as far as actual output. if he is trying to get the most out of the bulbs than he should get the 3000k bulbs.

Yeah. Well in terms of halogen bulbs if the projectors already have the yellow tint, by using a yellow bulb you will get a super super deep yellow perhaps orange color, light output will be reduced. I would suggest using a normal halogen bulb, or even a 3000-3500K HID bulb.

Not 100% sure though, best for someone with experience to chime in. When i had my ES300 capsules over my piaa crystal ion bulbs it was like orange lol.

I don't see you loosing anything if you test them. You can always sell the ones you don't like.

Yes that is true, but if you use the 3000K bulb behind the yellow tint that is already on there which i presume is very similar to my ES300 capsules the light could potentially be slightly orange. Personally id go with either or, capsules will give you the deep yellow even with normal halogen bulbs, but in terms of output 3000K hid's would be better.
