yah so... As u know.. .ABS can suck sometimes because u basically have not stopping power and well it is good to keep u in a stright line and in control but that is all it is good for. Besides that... I couldn't stop wen I was going near some car and I just tapped the brakes and pressed pretty hard and I stopped better. After that... my ABS light went on... I can either assume... my ABS is shot... or the sensors have snow or sand stuck in them because my car just got sprayed with a sand truck... which is so stupid...

 

Keep driving it will probably go away on its own. For those of you who have gone tray drifting or done some farily significant burnouts, when the abs module detecs the front wheels are spinning while the rears arent it will trip the ABS light. Its possible there is a problem with one of the sensors, but it could have been a voltage spike or something in-significant like that, drive it for a bit if the light doesnt go away you may have to go to the dealership and have them run it on the consult, because i dont believe normal OBD-2 scanners can pick up ABS/SRS codes.

 

Sensors are a royal PITA to replace...I had a faulty one, paid $170 for one at the dealer, and I think I damaged it putting it in. ABS Sensors FTL!

 

you won't say that when you need to stop in a hurry and you hit some poor road conditions.

I was not implying not to fix the sensor, I was just saying that they are too fragile. If you need a sensor, find an ABS car at the junkyard and swap the hub.

 

But you can always run ABS self diag to get the error code. See FSM for more details, IIRC you have to ground one terminal on the consult port.

 

Yep, the ABS system is disabled because it detected a fault condition.

You'll have to run the ABS diagnostics and go from there.

Did I mention that I got stuck in a snowy curb? lol... gotta love open diffs... *wishes he had VLSD* I had to use a shovel and pop the clutch to get out... And yah that is when my ABS light tripped.

One thing I really hate about ABS is this... I don't know if this is just nissans old way but it is really stupid...

So you are driving on a road that has some ice on it on one side or snow. And you stop in a hurry. IF one wheel is on ice or snow and the other 3 are on Tarmac ur ABS will go on. This not only reduces stopping power but makes no sense at all. I have never seen other cars do that. What it should do it just try and ABS pump one wheel if needed by making a better modular with by pass valves that can do it... It would make sense imo...

 

Your sensor is packed with snow...let it melt and it will be fine.

Give it a few days to go away, and if it doesn't pin out (i forget the fuse # but) the 4th fuse down on the far left of the fuse box and ground, a few times and the ABS computer will flash out the codes. The FSM will list the codes and what they mean.
