How to remove rear window stock film?

My 95 maxima isn't tinted, and the rear film is bubbling/peeling. I tried just peeling it off but it has some serious adhesive to it.

Any suggestions on how to remove it? I'm pretty sure once it is removed the defroster lines will either be jacked up or out in the open, but I can't see out the back window, which is far worse.

Take it to a professional. Its not worth it to try and do it yourself IMO. Its less likely a professional will ruin your defrost lines. And you should be able to strike a deal if you want to get it re-tinted.

yeah, don't mess with with that dude. you'll regret it, the defrost lines cost a mint if you have to re-do them. a local tint shop should be able to fix that, or the dealer.

I got all my side windows + Rear window tint removed for $50. I've heard horror stories about it, so I didn't even attempt.

I was one of those that thought I should do it to save a few bucks by doing it myself. I'll you what...never again will I do the rear window. The sides are no big deal...but the rear...forget it. I'll gladly pay next time if I ever have to do it again.

It easy enough to remove if it comes off in big chunks and you're careful how you tear it. I removed mine in about 2 hours using diluted ammonia or u can use a diluted simple green to spray on the adhesive and sharp razor blades to scrap the remaining goo off. Luckily I didn't have to remove too much adhesive- most of it came off with the tint. Just be real careful if you attempt it. Tinting the window is another matter... tried that twice.... with no luck...don't waste your time if you wanna try redoing it yourself.
