Installed a CAI a few days ago and I'm pretty sure it's leaking. Can anybody share some good ways to check for intake leaks? Thanks

What makes you think it is leaking? Check all cuplinks are tight by eye and make sure there are no loose parts on it. Listen for hissing noises under partial throttle. I don't know about the VQ, but VE's always make a spooling noise under part throttle with a CAI. It's kinda sexy, but it's not leaking.

Spray carb cleaner around suspect areas . Cars idle will change were there is a leak.

I think I'll just smoke and blow into the different parts of it. That sounds like the most fun method. :P If that doesn't work, I'll try the carb cleaner. Thanks guys

How to listen?

Remove all clothes, take a shower in hot water, use soap to wash ears and other critical places. Dry with a towel and use an ear-bud to get those last few pesky drops of water out of the ears .......................

Now flush the toilet - can you hear the water sloshing around?

If no, repeat process till you can - if yes, go to the car and listen

You can also use a handheld propane torch (unlit!) to check for leaks. When the propane is introduced in SMALL amounts to the area around the leak the idle will speed up. Probably just as safe and surely cleaner than using carb cleaner to check.

Thats good to know. I had an 86 ta and took it to the local machanic. He did the carb cleaner deal and had a flash fire in my engine bay. Always be carefull with anything flameable in the engine bay.
