6th gen OEM rims on my 99?

Have the opportunity to buy OEM rims from an 05 maxima. Not sure yet if I'm interested. I have a 99 w/ stock suspension. Here are questions........

1) They would fit, yes?
2) Opinions on the look vs. 99 OEM rims.
3) What tires would I need to put with them to stay close to an accurate speedo? (I'm gonna get new tires all the way around regardless of whether I switch rims or not.)
4) Anyone got pics of such a setup on a 4th gen w/ stock (or near stock) suspension?

Thanks!

they will fit, are they the SE or SL wheels? i have 205/65/R15 on my stock wheels and put on 245/35/R20 after-market rims and didn't notice any different in speedometer accuracy. just make sure you keep the overall diameter close or your ABS will be going crazy.

  • Yes, they fit.
  • Look is purely personal preference.
  • 235/40/18 would be very close to stock tire size.
  • Member's Ride's forum would be best for that.

r u thinking about lowering your max? as a personal preference, i think the max on stock suspension looks funny with any aftermarket rims mainly because of the low pro tires and big wheel gap. . if your not gonna lower the car, i think the stock 16" 5 spoke se rims look great on a 4th gen max.

ok.. the assuming the aftermarket rims are usually bigger than stock, the 6th gen wheels are 17" or 18" bepending on trim, he is probably gonna get lower profile tire to keep his overall wheel diameter the same. if he wants to mess up his odo accuracy, its all good. either way, i was more interested in knowing if he was gonna drop his car.

JFGI.

'05 Maximas have either 17" or 18" rims. 225/55R17 or 245/45R18. Stock A32 16" tire size (for SE) is 215/55R16.

Google 'tire size calculator'...

For the 17":
Speedometer1: 56.7 mph 94.6 km/h
Speedometer Difference: 5.656% too slow
Diameter Difference: 5.35%
For the 18":
Speedometer1: 56.9 mph 94.8 km/h
Speedometer Difference: 5.413% too slow
Diameter Difference: 5.14%
In relation to the stock tire size with the vehicle at 60mph.

I had 05 Rims on my 96 with a stock setup.. I was told by everyone here that they would rub, I never did experience any rubbing (that I noticed) the tires also never had any indication..
