Bottoming out on OEM suspension w/ 18X8 +30 350Z wheels!!!

The rear bottoms out sometimes over table-top speed bumps w/ nothing in the trunk, and noone in the back seat. I have 350Z 18X8 +30 wheels on, front & back. Rears have 245/45, front has 225/45. I think its hitting the outer fender b/c there is very little clearance between the tire and the mud flap. Pretty gay b/c I wanted to lower the car a little bit but now I dont see how that is possible. Front has way too much wheel gap though. Is there something I can do besides put stock wheel back on?

Roll the fenders or get the right size tire....or both

Rubbing > bottoming out.

+1 on tire size and/or roll.

what is the right tire size? there are guys lowered on 20's, so i know its not the overall diameter of the wheel...

and yeah, im probablly rubbing, not bottoming out

235/40/18's and you should be fine.

I have that size with my 18x8's with a 35mm offset dropped on Progress springs with room to spare.

Rolling your fenders is cake, make sure you use a heat gun...

its the width rather than the height. my bet is your low offset and fatty tires are causing you to rub. try a 225 or 235. i would go with what you are running in front so you can rotate.

would a 30 offset make me sit closer to flush w/ fender, or would it make me sit closer to the frame of the car? Thanks for everyones help

I have same rear tire size with 35ET (5 more mm tucked in than your 30ET) and they wouldn't clear until I cut and rolled the fenders... Now I only scrape the front fenders (I have same sized tires all around).

**EDIT** I have a 4thGen so I'm not sure if it helped but at least I answered your offset question...

how fast do U go over the table, if U kinda just float over them at 10-15mph I can see why U'd be bottoming out the methods above would help but a driver mod would be more effective, and the higher spring rate would usually take car of that unless Ur planing on getting the softer sets such as H&R, maxspeed

find out where it's rubbing first.
I know 5 gens have a problem rubbing on the back edge of the fender well where the rear bumper and quarter panel are flanged together. You might check that and trim the edge off that flange and see what happens.

It kinda looked like that may be where it was rubbing. I have temporarily fixed the issue by going w/ a 225/40/18 all the way around, no more rub, but now I am going to lower it and am kinda afraid its gonna rub again. I started another thread to see how far down I can go b/c It is geared more at the fact that its a +30 wheel rather than the series tire I am running.

& to answer Crusher103, I was pretty much going too fast over it, and it is a very serious speed table, but I posted b/c I knew I was going to lower and knew if I was rubbing at stock height, Id have major issues when lowered. I think im ok now though

245-40-18/18x8.5" +18mm in the rear, and only slight rubbing on large bumps on one side in the rear(due to my rear beam being out of center), no rubbing in front, +28mm in front.

S-Techs front, Progress rear. Essentially the lowest spring combination w/o going w/ CO's.
