Digital Dash and HU on a VE?
Hey, I may be getting a VE soon and can't afford to keep 2 Maximas. Unfortunately it will be a hard decision which one to sell since my '89 GXE is the perfect color (silver on black) and has the Digi-dash, auto-climate, and HU display. I want to know if I wanted to swap it to the VE would the digital cluster work there? I know the auto-climate and HU display have been swapped before. Would the speedo and tach read properly? Would I need to change any other electronic components to make it compatible?
I searched but didn't find anything on this. Any info would be great. Thanks.

since VG guys swap in VE clusters all the time, and Hectic has put a Digi cluster and hud in his VG. Id say it'll work no problem at all since the only change is on the cluster end. The signal is the same VG/VE/GXE/SE and the only difference is some wiring behind the dash and of course the cluster.
But would you put the VE cluster in the VG and VG cluster in the VE? So you have two working cars? Or would you part out the VG? Because thats ALOT of work for two cars, I hope your prepared for it.

That's the question! I'm getting the VE for a good price, so I was thinking to get it as a fix-n-sell, but I'm thinking that there are so many features that I would like to swap from the VE to my VG (like the VE engine and stronger auto tranny with VLSD, as well as the rear disks) that it probably makes more sense to just keep the VE and swap over things like the Digi-cluster, etc. and sell the VG. Another consideration about each car is the mileage. My VG has only 87k miles on it but the VE has 173k. If I do sell the VG the lower miles would help with the price. but then again I would probably have more reliability by keeping the lower mileage car. Basically, I am trying to sell one car to make a profit and in the mean time take advantage of having two cars to assemble my "dream Maxima".

I didn't know i've been stickied, I gotta get that write up finished to make it worthy..
Anyway, it should work.. You are going to need to remove your fuel pumps and swap sending units between them because the analog/digital sensors are different, same goes with VG/VE pumps, so you can't just go swap the entire assembly. I kind of wish I would have had a full parts car to work with when I did mine, opposed to building the wiring harness, cutting a hole in the dash and driving without a fuel gauge for several months, on the other hand a custom job brings satisfaction
I did recently get my hands on a factory digital dash car though so i've finally got the last piece of the puzzle (fuel gauge). If you end up doing this, shoot me a PM if you need any help. Digidash in a VE would be cool, for the fact the tach would go into the red. It would also be nice to see the digital readout get up to the mid 100's

The stock VE redline is about 6600 rpm. There is no speed limiter, so however fast you can get it to. I don't know about the AT, but a stock MT VE will make it to 140 no problem. FYI, the fastest VE I have seen proved was someone that had a ticket going 163. I think someone figured out the geared limit of a VE is like 178 (if you had the hp).
