HELP ME! my transmission is acting wierd...

Alright my AUTO 97 maxima has 161,000 miles on it. I bought it at 120,000 miles. It just started doing this Saturday. When the car is not in any gear(Park\neutral) it's fine, but when i put it in any gear it starts to "jerk" forward, when it is idling it acts like it wants to stall out. When I let off the brake and start to coast (not hitting the gas.) it will still act like it is going to stall. Also when i'm in overdrive at a very low speed it still does it but once I push on the gas harder and it down shifts and is at a higher RPM it's fine. It hasn't stalled out yet. I need some suggestions. I think it's either my transmission filter might be clogged or my torque converter might be the problem. I've check my fluid level and it's full and no metal shavings found. I don't know when the last time the trany was flushed, it might be due for one anyways. I don't know when the filter was last changed. I'm lost this has never happend before.
Please help me out.

Sounds to me like a misfiring problem (as everyone else has said, indirectly).

Not really trans related.

An CELs yet? It sounds like a bad sensor of some kind (we won't know until we get codes)

No check engine lights.
I does it intermittently i don't think it's enough to throw a code.
It could be a coil going bad? If it is, how could I tell which one it is because I don't have the money for all six.

Thanx for all the suggestions.

A scanner will tell you which cyl misfired....Check the sparkplug in that cyl and if sparkplug looks good, then move on to your coil pack. GL

I think it might be vacuum or misfire. I would also suggest replacing fuel filter if you havent in a while. Start by pulling codes if there are any.

sounds to me like a TPS issue and if it is something in the tranny then it might be your torque converter going bad

relax and get some codes if any, stop second guessing the problem and have it looked at. use your head and think before you freak....
