2pc rotor goodness

Got my 2pc rotors made by Coleman racing. Same company the Matt used on the 6th gen rotors. These are 13 inch rotors to use with the Stillen 2 Piston PBR caliper BBK. Now it's off to powdercoat for the calipers wrinkle black.
Pics of the 2pc rotors, stillen calipers and clearance of BBK with factory 17's.

The picture with the wheels is with the rotors that came with the BBK. I made sure they fit factory 17's before getting the 2pc rotors. I wanted blanks so I can turn them if I need too. Plus I also got my SS brake lines today too.

I will weigh them once i get them together. I am looking to find a annodizer to annodize the hats black. Or can they be powdercoated too but a flat black.

you won't want to powdercoat the hats. you'll wind up getting the powder in the wrong spots and causing more harm than good. you'll want to get them anodized. I'm not sure why they didn't do it there at Coleman..
Then again, Coleman didn't make my hats. I had them machined and anodized elsewhere and used the Coleman rotors.

and you will go yeeeeears before you have to have those turned. I'd venture to say you probably won't have the car anymore by then. They're good stuff and will last quite a while.

Looks like a nice setup you got there.

On a side note, a buddy of mine with a 4th gen is interested in getting 2 piece rotors for his car to go with his Z32 calipers, but wants to do it because he thinks his car will be faster and there will be less stress on his tranny, which he busted not long ago beating on it. I keep telling him those aren't good enough reasons to buy 2 piece rotors, but he doesn't believe me. Thoughts?

Reducing weight on drivetrain components is always good. Although, he is just rationalizing.

There is no way that reducing 5-10 pounds an axel is going to aleviate a life of flogging a tranny. Going 0-60 in record time every time you accelerate and power shifting and so forth will abuse and tear up a tranny regardless of what components are around it.

Tell him to ease up on the driving and his stuff will last longer.

But it wouldn't hurt if he went to some 2 pc 12.6" rotors to fit with his z32 calipers.

Yup! Lighter is better. Lighter does not fix driving habits though!

You still selling 2-piecers? I didnt see an active link on your webby. Only a "Coming Soon!" message.

Sadly, I haven't updated the site since it was first put up. I've had the 2-pc rotors out for quite a while.

I decided not to anodize them and keep the silver. Got the put together and will weigh them Monday at work. I will do a comparasion weight with the other rotor. I paid $850 for them. $546.00 for the pair of hats, 268.00 for rotors, and 37.80 to heat treat the rotors. I paid 600.00 used for the stillen kit. So it's 1450.00 all togehter Vs. Stillen 1140.00 with a 1pc rotor.

Is it just me, or does the ratio of hat price seem to horribly outweigh the rotor price?

Think of how long it takes to mill the hats out a a solid piece of billet. Plus it's a one time buy. All I have to buy if I have too is the rotor.

that's better.

Definitely coat the hats with something. powder would probably be too thick, but you don't want to go very thick on it. but you need something for corrosion resistance- bare aluminum isn't very good against corrosion.

I am hoping to get these on within the next 2 weeks. It's still winter but my brakes now are shot. Looking to get a Motive brake bleeder system and flush entire system myself.

Just got all my calipers back. Had them powdercoated wrinkle black. You can see you can barely see the Stillen that's milled into the caliper. Could have all this on this weekend once my Motive brake bleeder comes in.
