chrome tips on stock muffler?

hey guys. i have a stock muffler (93 SE dual tip). i was wondering if I could just add some chrome tips from like Pep Boys or Autozone or something to my muffler to make it a little more flashier. If so, what size do I need and what is the procedure to put them on. Probably a stupid question but thanks in advance anywayz.

I think it makes your car look a lot better. But, don't go to Pep Boys and get those 7 dollar screw-on tips. You need to call a regular muffler shop and find out if they have some nice chrome tips that are about 2" in diameter that they can weld on your muffler. ($20 installed for two tips)

What you do is, take off your stock tips. Then, slide the new one over your pipes. Butt the end of the chrome tip against your muffler and then weld a joint connecting the end of the tip to the muffler wall. Make sure the tip is centered perfectly. You might have to cut down the new tips to size so they won't be sticking out too far. I will try to post some pictures as soon as I can. Hope this helps.

thanks aaron. I'll wait to go get this stuff until I get a chance to see pics of yours. How much did it cost you to do it, what kind of muffler tips did you get, and what size were they? exact 2" or like 2 and a quarter? Thanks again

I can't remember which size I got, but I'm sure that 2" or 2.25" will look great. I think I might have 2". It cost me $20 bucks to buy two tips and weld them (parts and labor). The muffler guy did it for me, right then. I forget what kind they were, it was just what he had in stock. "Tennessee exhaust tips" comes to mind. They look like quality tips. Not the ones you get at the Auto Parts Store. Just check out the tips he has in stock and see if they're nice.

I can't get my pic uploaded on my webpage at Car domain. It's messed up or something. Here, let me try Yahoo Photos.

If this doesn't work, try emailing me and I will reply and then attach the photos.

Here we go. Try this. This is a close up of how he did the tips. Sorry about the low quality photos...a JamCam is all I got.
