'05 6disc Bose installed in a '96
I got a 6disc Bose mp3/wma as in this ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320217586704 . I can hook up the deck to an AC adapter that I use to test car stereos, and the unit works great. However, when I install the deck in my car, the display works, but no audio. Other Bose decks work great in the '96. Anyone have any idea why it would power the speakers in my test setup, but not in my car??
Thanks,
Thanks,
I think it may be the "amp turn on" wire. When I plug a Bose that in that works with the car, I get a small "pop" from the amps kicking in. But I get nothing when I plug in the new deck? I think the deck is sending a signal, but since the amps are not turned on...I get nothing. Does anyone know of a way to bypass the "amp turn on" wire to always have the Bose amps on? ...as I alway have the stereo on anyways??
Thanks.
Thanks.
Wow...over 5 years here and only 169 posts for you, so i'll bite.

That site will give you the wire locations. The colors won't necessarily match but the pin locations will be the same. Have you metered the amp turn on output from the new radio to see if it has any voltage? To do what you are asking, about having the Bose amps on whenever the car is on, youd simply create a jumper connecting pin G to pin B, but if the new unit is indeed Bose, this shouldn't be needed in which case theres another problem somewhere else, which you should find. A volt meter is your best bet to figure out whats going on.

the jumper did do the trick. It appears, even though this is a Bose unit, the deck is amped and does not send any signal out the "amp on" wire. It has got great sound, unfortunately, it uses non standard double-din mounting holes....I may drill some holes in the brackets and have another go.
thanks
