With all the posts about injectors and such flying around, I thought id throw this out to let some people think.

My car was showing some of the typical symptoms of a dead injector: rough idle, low mpg, etc. I found the injector using the "pull the plug wire" method (if you pull the wire and idle does not change, bad injector found) turned out to be number "4" cylinder. the terminal on the injector is easy to get to on the vg engine, so I just pulled the terminal to ohm test, and it was full of corrosion! before cleaning the terminals off I went ahead and tested and got no reading (duh...). After cleaning, i got 12.2 ohms. Thats within spec, so i cleaned the inside of the harness, and plugged it in. Fired up the engine, smooth as butter.

to prevent this again, I was wondering what some of the experts have to offer on what to put in there. isn't there an "electrical grease" that i can place on the terminals? what are some other options?


(off topic, anybody wanna help me replace my exhaust studs? there is *only* 3 broken ones, right now.)

 

There is an electrolytic grease. It is used in outdoor lighting. I believe you can get some at Radio Shack. I use it on my battery terminals.

 

Autozone carries CRC brand dielectric grease for about $8

 

yep! Some electrical grease should solve that problem. Is you wire loom to the injectors broken if so wrap it with some elctrical tape or if you found a couple of connectors at local junkyard then cut and swap.

 

ive also seen this but only on vgs all the ve injector problems have been bad injectors im not sure why though maybe somthing to do with the diferent styl conector i hate those conectors with the little metal clip

 

yeah, i broke the clip during removal. Im sure it won't come undone too soon, but im gonna go to the junk yard tomorrow. im gonna do it right, and use shrink tubing. I was planning on the trip already. hopefully the weather wont be too bad, its been raining all day...

 

93-94 VG injectors and 92 up DOHC injectors use the same connector

that is something to check on gfs 90 max just bought it back from brother and has a bad idle and runs ruff. don't know about mpg...so I changed the coil and happened to look at the fuel filter and it read NISSAN right on it well duh original filter after 136k prob clogged. But if that don't fix it the injectors are next thanks for posting and possibly saving me another headache.

 

Well, a fuel filter w/Nissan logo on it doesn't necessarily means it is original filter, a lot of people do buy parts from Nissan, you know?
Anyway it would be a good idea to change the fuel filter and a tune up and all the basic stuff before you move any deeper.
