I am looking for a cheap verizon cell phone nothing to old. If anyone recently upgraded and has a phone laying around let me know.

ill sell you a verizon SAMSUNG phone from 03 for 40 bux to your door. yea its old and some paint is faded, but it works perfectly.

Check Ebay and craigslist. You can usually find a phone a couple of years old pretty cheap. Be careful buying a phone older than 2005 because Verizon may not activate them. The phone must be E911 capable otherwise they won't activate it.
