What to mod now?

I think I have run out of reasonably priced mods to do. Can someone look at my sig and see if there is anything else they can think of that I could do. Thanks.....

Just trying to get out of the SMC someday...

Brakes is the big thing. Go with some good pads like EBC or Axxis and a set of SS brake lines. If you relly feel like it get a set of slotted rotors, but they are not needed.

I had to replace the driver rear caliper when I got my struts done (long story). And I got 2 new front calipers of ebay for $20.00 a piece. So I was going to end up painting them and putting them on.

But what about the pads, I hear that EBC pads dust too much. I need the lowest dusting pads to keep my stock SE rims clean for more than a day or 2.

Any performance pad will dust. Axxis MM pads aren't quite as bad as the EBC's. I would still get a set of SS brake lines to firm up the pedal.

I dunno how much this costs but: I've heard something about people getting their timing adjusted? I don't even know what that entails or anything about it, but it apparently helps 1/4 mile times pretty good...

A computer upgrade from Jim Wolf. Does anybody know if this is worth the $700 dollars? Please explain how this helps. Thanks.

Cool, so for $560, i can have the same thing? I can't remember what the real price was...but, I was just guessing.

Man, I wanna get my car going fast as crap without major work. Anybody have an ECU? ... What's the deal? Do they help ALOT?

maxmizd27, What do you think of your JWT Chip? Can you tell me what kind of gain you got from it? Big or Very Big? How much was it? Thanks.

It's very noticeable. I have a feeling that it will be magnified with the addition of a y-pipe and a fresh, un-clogged cat. I think I would've noticed more if I already had a y-pipe. It should fly with a y-pipe, cat, ecu, cat-back, intake and the udp.

How much was it? Where did you go to get it? Can you explain the procedure you went through to get it? I think you send off your computer and then they do some stuff to it and then send it back a day later.

Is it true that you should get a chip after you are done doing all your mods? Or will it adjust to another mod I put on after the chip upgrade? A stock ECU will adjust, I don't see why an upgraded ECU won't. Thanks.

Maxmizd27....Dude, take your car to the track!! I'd like to know what your car runs man, considering you're about as modded as a VE auto can get without getting into the tranny work and head work, etc. Do it do it do it! Have you ever taken it to the track? I'm sure you're doing low low 15's at least...

You generally want to do your exhaust (at least a cat-back) and intake before an ecu. The ecu adjusts for the increased flow of air from the intake. I don't think it would make a major difference when you do a udp. You do want to disconnect your battery when adding a mod because that will re-set the ecu.
I got mine from Stillen, but way back when it only ran around $500. I bought it on a core charge which means they charged me $1,000, sent the new Jim Wolf ecu, I installed it, sent them my stock ecu back and they credited the other $500 core charge when they got mine. No down time. You can send yours and they send it out and return it to you, but then you're out of action for a few days.

Has anybody ever dealt with Cattman? I am seriously thinking about getting the JWT ECU upgrade. Are there any other companies out there that sell the same ECU or better? Can you get any better than JWT chips? Thanks.

Nothings gonna be better than JWT. Jim Wolf was an employee of Stillen when he developed the first Nissan ecu's. They say he he's the only one who ever got or figured out Nissan's coding. Don't know if that's fact or legend though. Try JWT directly. See what their price is without the middleman. I'd stay away from Jet and some of the others. Wolf is the only one I'd trust. That's why there is a JWT windshield banner decal on my car.

Oh it's had tranny work alright! That's why I don't drag race it. I destroyed the tranny once while autocrossing and the darn slush box took a $2,000 rebuild! Don't think I'd have the stones to see what it would do on a 1/4 mile.

JWT ECU upgrade

Does anybody know for sure if this gain will be better than the Y-pipe mod on a stock exhaust? I noticed some gain when I put on my Y-pipe. (maybe .3 or .4 off my 1/4 mile time...just a guess, until I run my car again) I just want to compare the increase in power to another mod I already have now, so I can get a good idea of what to expect. Thanks.

if you need an extra ecu, can sell u mine , i have an extra ecu in a box in my garage, i was gonna get a ecu upgrade but then decided to buy a rx7 instead..

with the extra ecu, u can send that one in to be reprogrammed, while still having ur stock ecu to drive with, (well that was my plans before the rx7)

Damn, I didn't know RX7s and ECU upgrades were interchangable pricewise these days

No thanks, I appreciate the offer. If I do end up getting a JWT ECU, I will just pay the core charge so I have no down time. But, the way things are looking is that the ECU upgrade will only give a gain is close to the gain of the Y-pipe mod. So, personally, I don't think that is worth the $565. Does anybody have a different opinion on how much a JWT ECU upgrade will help for my VE auto? Thanks.
