350Z projectors

So i posted this here for those of you who have done the projector retrofits.

I scored a set of 04 350Z headlights..with ballasts. They both had moisture in them so they were replaced under warrenty, so i scooped them up. One of the techs stole the bulbs but i got what i wanted. Ballasts and the projectors. What im wondering is has anyone retrofitted the early 350z projectors before? I think they are the same as the 04-06 maxima projectors but im not too sure. I read somewhere that they are different then most other projectors where as some of the light escapes through the side to aid in side light. Is this true? How hard would the retrofit be in a 4th gen headlight?

Thanks
Chris

The 04 350z projectors for one take a d2r bulb not d2s and no they arent the same as the max.

Yeah, sorry man but it's a pretty well-known fact that the 350z projos are pretty bad.

They look cool though and are better than stock A32 lighting

yea i always heard the 350z projectors weren't commonly used for retrofits but they look sick on the car.

has anyone ever tried the q45 projectors? i always wondered if someone on here ever used them for a retrofit.

Not 100% sure but the newer z projectors are bixenon and they should be good, but the old ones work like a projector reflector type setup on the 350. I always wondered about retrofitting those in maxima headlights, but as it has been said they are not very good. I would retrofit them just to see the output. It would still be better than regular halogens imo. As far as the q45 I heard maxima headlights are too small for those projectors.
If you got all that for free, that's a good pickup , you can get some bulbs and better projectors.

Of course it would be better than stock lighting, but they are not good at all in the context of HID projectors.

Absolutely, those things are like 6" tall. They've been put into recent F150 housings, and I believe fit housings as well (!)

Looks nice but as others had said they are not that good compared to other H.I.D. Projectors. But the price was right and have fun putting them in.
