tranny clunk helpppppppp

my car was always kept in the garage at night. ever since i left it out side for a few days with out driving car started up fine no problem couple days go bye. i notice that when the car is cold in the morning i let it warm up for like 20 secs sometimes more i go to put it into d and then like 5 secs later it will kick in but only does this when its in the morning or the car has cooled off for a long time but once its warmed up it doesnt give me a problem. its a 95 max auto tranny i checked the tranny fluid is good but its a lil brown i went to smell it the fluid smells burnt. so im like ok seems like i need a to chage the tranny fluid now should i go with a complete flush or drain and fill. i was reading how when ur fluid smells burnt that ur tranny is shoot i have no slipping or nothing shifts well no problems that i know of except the clunking / kicking into gear a lil bit delayed. soo is my tranny done plz help i dont know what to do im trying to fix this b4 i go to work .

dude, i just replaced mine and the first gear hops into second even after it warms up. first off, whats your mileage, second, theres a thing called a shift indicator and its the brains of your transmission and it tell it when to shift and at what rpm. have that checked, and check your mounts as well. also, tps should be scanned, it sits in your throttle body and works with the trans as wel, good luck and dont freak!!

If you're going to do a trans flush you should probabley just flush the entire system. I use the BG tranny flush machine with the BG flush kit. It works excellent.
