Would you get rid of your maxima?

Current gas prices around $3.50 to $3.70 Would you get rid of your maxima if the gas prices hit $5.00 per gallon? There are many fuel efficient cars out there such as civic, yaris, accent etc. Would you sacrifice your maxima just to save on gas? This question is to those who drives alot but hate paying higher prices at pump. Well i will definitely switch to a 4 cylender as soon as i see a $4.50gal. What about you?

I don't think I would go that far, I get high 20s for mpg (depending on how I drive) I have been thinking of getting a piggy-back to tune it a bit better and I think that would help quit a bit.

no point in getting rid of the car gas prices are always going to go up and down I bet in like 5-7 years $3 a gallon will be cheap

I'll swap in a VQ35DE and 6 speed before I get rid of my 3rd gen. 10:1 comp (vs my VG's 9) the much lower 6 speed and tuning would net me 30+mph highway no issue.

And I'll probably switch to 205/XX/16s vs my current 225/55/16's when I get new tires for the maxi. Cut down on the rolling resistance a little.

My 240 gets better mpg then the max, so I'll proabably keep driving it more spring/summer/fall then the max.

So no I wont give it up but I will modify accordingly.

maybe down the road get a 40 mpg car if it exists. but i will still drive my Max.

Buying a new car will still cost more overall after only saving a little in gas.

It's obvise that no matter what the price of the gas Is going to be It's always going to rise and get real expensive. I am sure a 4-cylinder v6 or v8 and so on, your always are gonna fill up the tank to go on long distance or fill It up once so you don't come back to the pump and fill It up again. The fuel capacity of all the car Is going to be roughly around 18-20+ a gallon. The point is anytime your going to the pump for any car you are going to put out more money than your gonna fill-up and It also matters what grade of gas your using but not by much. I will keep the MAX and feed her the premium.

I will also keep her and keep her well fed on the good stuff (93). I am also always looking for another classic muscle deal. I figure with gas prices some fools will sell. I would consider getting a high MPG puddle splasher for work commute but keep the cars that bring me joy as well.

Max gets 28MPG, my two wheeled toy, an FJR1300 get upwards of 45MPG.

I think both vehicles provide me with a nice balance of excitement and economy.

The Maxima stays, besides that I don't think the Dragon would be that much fun in a Maxima.

The only way i would get rid of mY max is to upgrade. Lexus, BMW, Mercedes. If gas gets to be $5.00/gallon, I would buy an older Civic or something to help with the gas cost.

Yes. That thought is already going through my head. Like the car, but the mileage is crappy. VW TDi is on the radar.

Hell no. I get about 23 mpg in the city and about 28 on the highway. That's enough for me. If fuel prices continue to rise, i'll just continue to cut other expenses.

In addition, I drove from Atlanta to Savannah and back on 1 tank of gas because I have a 20 gallon fuel tank. Not many cars have those.

It's more expensive to buy another car than it is to spend extra money on gas. The Maxima will stay and I will keep feeding it premium.

At $5.00 a gallon I would have to drive 70,400 miles in my max at 22 miles to the gallon JUST to pay off the price of a $16,000 car that gets better gas mileage.

If I did get it, at $5.00 getting 42 miles to the gallon my new car, I'd spend another $8380 on gas to travel 70,400 miles + the initial $16,000 I paid to potentially have gotten me to the same place my max could have.

Judging that I drive about 10k - 12k miles at year, at the quickest, I wouldn't see any REAL savings until about 7 years from now, or so.

The Max Stays.

Was planning on selling the max anyways, but not cuz of gas prices. Next car will probably get lower MPG, but, I'll be happier driving a "better" car and worth the gas "premium" for the opportunity.

No. But i have been constapling if i want to upgrade to something else. i have had thoughs of trading the max in for a Altima SE-R 6 speed. or something in a higher end lexus, bmw, MB, one of those. also the Ford Mustang. but something keeps telling me to keep it. although i cant wait to test drive the 09 maxima.

i would never give up my car for a honda or toyota with better gas mileage. How much would I be saving to give up my car? It doesn't even out.

Both of my Maximas have more than paid for themselves, so getting rid of them now would negate any gain, and vice versa. So in short, the longer I keep them, the more they save me.

i am wanting to get rid of my maxima as we speak...but i don't have a job right now so i can't get another car yet.

i am either going to get the new corolla xrs, mazda3, or maybe even a prius...my friend just got one and it's not too bad. but i might look into either altima hybrid or the camry hybrid if i go that route. i'm sick of getting 15-17mpg

no way. I will drive it till the engine drops. then i will just put my dek laying in my parents pull barn(in signiture pic) and if it gets to $5 dollars a gallon i will just fix the good ole 92 geo prizm that is next to my dek engine. it gets about 35-38 mpg but the thing just looks ghetto as hell(busted out rear window, and the passenger door would not stay closed so what does my dad do? he throws in 2 lag bolts to hold it down instead of getting a new door) Lol i also have a old 88 intergra sitting in the barn to(blown piston ring FTL) but im sure i can get a cheap d16a3 for it

I hope this Is not true because this Is alot of gas we are talking about here. I am sure there Is something wrong with your car or you need a tune-up or If your modded, for example If your A/F Is rich get It back to normal. The driving style also plays a big role. Good luck

Heres food for thought, if you can have a car that gets over 40+mpg, whats the point of having it if by the time you get anywhere your friends will already be gone. They are usually slow as hell, the only hybrid worth getting would be that new lexus with i think over 300hp on a hybrid, but the cost of the car outways gas prices. I would keep my Max, i get 28mpg so im fine with that.

now with the exchange rate around 93c thats us$4.95/ us gal im paying i australia

bahahahahahah sif sell your max because of fuel prices...

you guys are still paying under a dollar per litre thats bloody insane...

i paid 143.9c per litre for fuel this afternoon (95 octane at that) i feel raped

But we are paying that for 87 to 93 octane. If we were to get 95 to 98 octane, we would be paying closer to what you are paying if not more.
