So, I was planning on putting my snow tires on this weekend, but now I've decided to go to the track Sunday.

I'm gonna keep my snow tires on the rear, figuring that they may even help my ET's because there lighter than the 17's. The snow tires are only speed rated for like 92mph.

Now, that rating is supposed to mean that the tires can sustain those speeds for 10miles or somthing before problems arise. Would taking the tires up to 100 and then back down really quick (duh, like at the 1/4 mile) cause any problems?

Will the rear tires and wheels make any difference in my ET's?

 

I would say you're 100% safe by the virtue that there are no turns or sudden hard breaking needed

The tire's speed rating means it is guaranteed to sustain the HEAT of driving on normal pavement for one hour at whatever speed the tire is rated for, you will be just fine.

 

Definetly don't worry about the speed rating. It has to be a sustained speed over the limit for quite a long period of time to have problems. Since you're leaving the snow tires in the back, they won't affect the wheels that have traction and since you say that they're lighter, then it should help you more then hurt you.

 

You wont't have problems. Too short a time to do any damage. You should really put the 15" rims on your fronts to improve your ET. They will greatly help you to launch better (the higher profile rubber sticking to the pavement better) and weigh less going thru the run.

Yeah, I do. I usually keep my 17's on the back, but I'm replacing them with the 15's and snow tires this weekend. Just checking.
