I need Advice: My Nissan Maxima was in a accident (pics)

Well I was driving southbound, and the guy that hit me was driving north, he made a left hand turn, which there he struck my vehicle. It is 100% his fault and is going through the insurance.

Anyways the damage is minor yet, still a lot of $$ to repair. The insurance company wants to write off my car, yet it still drives fine. Although it does need alignment now as it pulls to the right. I got it estimated to repair which is $2000 bucks.

The insurance company is phoning me back next week, which they want to buy my car. I have no idea about how much they are going to offer for it.

I bought it for $4000 bucks a year and 4 months ago. I added new brakes and rotors since, a new muffler, spark plugs, door strips (the strips on the doors were peeling off), and tinted the windows. I put in a lot of $$$ to the car since I bought it. Runs amazing as well, leather interior, new stereo system.

The damage is a new fender, new front bumper as its cracked, new lights as well, they are cracked. Don't mind the rust, i was going to get that fixed this year too

What do I do? I need advice. It is an amazing car, very reliable but now I'm getting screw because old people can't drive! This is unfair

Maybe tell them you don't want it to be written off.

I have heard of buying it back from them if they decide to buy it off.

I would advise you to talk to the guy who hit you, see what he can pay you out of pocket, suck up the rest and buy the fender, bumper and lights used and put them on, either by yourself or find a shop to give you a good price.

Car looks fine, I've seen worse driving on the road, you can't beat a good car that is paid for and runs, Insurance is gonna part out your car, such a horrible death for something so minor

what year is the car?, have you check kbb for value of your car? if the 2k in damages is more than i think 60% of the value of the car, then they can total the car. I don't think you have a choice(that is here in ny) not sure bout where you are.

Hey thanks for for replying everyone! It's a 1996

Well the insurance company decided to write off my car. It was my choice to keep it or not and I did, and therefor get $2500 for the accident (wasn't my fault) and keep my car.

I purchased a fender already and have put on most of it, but it got to dark to finish putting it on. I'll have to do that after school tomorrow.

I'm going to leave the bumper, its not too bad, and all I need is a fog light assembly.

Btw im in canada.
