Alpine HU Trim piece

Ok, for those of you who have a 1 din alpine deck, have you guys removed the greay trim that goes around the faceplate that prevents the hu from being removed until the grey piece itself is removed. My HU is not flush with my dash which isnt kool and it should be so i need some thoughts on it.

What? The trim ring does not keep the face from being removed, if installed properly.

Alpine keys ????
What vehicle are you installing this in?

You do not use that sleeve when mounting the head unit in an import vehicle. You bolt it directly to the factory mounting brackets.

Didn't your Metra come with a flush trim ring?

I think the issue frankly is we're confused what you're asking about.

Are you just trying to take the trim off? Just press down in the middle and it should seperate. But technically you should have no use for hte cage in there so it should pop out without any issue.

well the way that the installers put it in is causing the metra pocket below it to bend downward from the top. My guess is they wanted to keep it there for whatever reasons, but it really has no need to be there.
