lookin for a clutch... what about this one??
im new at this maxima thing (as you can see) and was wondering what you guys would think is best?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
im driving the car on a normal basis and would like a nice tight grip on the shifting... is stage 2 good? i no that most stage 2 clutches (if not all) come with the cevlar material (which is longer lasting) and am curios to know if that is best? do you think that this is good for daily use?
and what kind of life expectancy are these?
thank for ANY help, i appreciate it
kenny
btw... this is the one that i SPECIFICALLY thought would fill the bill??

Check the Group Deal section and search for "clutch/fw", as most vendors have clutch kits and flywheels for sale.
I got a great deal from importcarpartsp, Justin DeMatteo, on a Stage I kit and flywheel for my 2002. I recommend buying from a reputable vendor, not from eBay.

Keep in mind that a stage 2 clutch will have no slip at all. On the street this is not usually a good thing, your clutch pedal will be more like a go/no go switch. Had a customer that in stalled a stage 2 in a Acura and tried to street it, tore up the cluch and flywheel in 3 months becouse he was trying to get it to engage smoothly. These were known to old timers as a suicide clucth.
the clutches are a bit higher in their torque handling capacity than a stock replacement one but less than a stage 1 clutch and a correspondingly lower price.
as others have said unless you have made serious upgrades to the power output of your car, there is really no need for a stage 2. I got my exedy oem replacement from importrp, one of the vendors on this site and it's been great. Less stiff than what my car came with in terms of pedal feel and the engagement has been great in bumper to bumper traffic.
I am kinda new to Maximas, I just purchased my car a few days ago. I have a friend with a 4th gen like mine but his is an auto.
I did however considering buying one that needed a clutch 2 or 3 years ago and from the research i did back then, the general consensus I seemed to get was that a stage 1 is pretty much spot on, however the stock clutch is really pretty good and can handle quite a bit of power as well.
