I wanted to take out the factory steering wheel and repalce it with a momo one. Does anyone know how to take the steering wheel off without triggering the air bag?

I think

you can pull the fuse to it. If there is no current to it won't go off, right? Iam not for sure, but I think that is how it works. MY2CENTS

The '99 Maxima factory shop manual, page RS-9, says:"Before servicing the SRS, turn the ignition switch "OFF", disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes."

[SRS = Supplemental Restraint System]

Also remember, after installing the Momo steering wheel, your airbag light on the dash will always be lit...

I have the same question, both my airbags are stolen, so I need a guide showing how to install a aftermarket steering, can anyone post some illustration?

I did this a couple years ago. I have a salvage car with no airbags. I just started taking stuff off but I messed up and lost horn capability in the steering wheel. (Moved it to a push button in the cig. lighter. )I do remember there are 4 bolts that take either a special tool or some ingenuity to get them off.

I had to take the dash apart and pull the airbag light to get it to go away. I love my MOMO wheel though. It's the small 12.5" Monte Carlo.

Did you really have to bump a 6 year old thread for a question that isn't even related to the thread topic?
