first time out with teh 2k

me and a couple buddies went to the track last nite. it was about 77* when we got there.

1st run- i ran against a worked over foxbody cobra. he missed 3rd.
2.658.....60' rofl
6.699.....330
9.968.....1/8
75.10.....mph
12.782....1000
15.135....1/4
96.07.....mph

i was pretty suprised i trapped so high, because i basically lined up as soon as i got to teh track.

2nd run- i ran teh same mustang but he missed 2nd this time.
2.310.....60
6.321.....330
9.587.....1/8
75.13.....mph
12.399.....1000
14.754.....1/4
95.47.....mph

3rd run- my best of teh night. got lined up with an lt1 auto z28. she got about a car and a fender on me at about 330' but i slowly started to reel her in and lost by a bumper.
2.397.....60
6.379.....330
9.614.....1/8
75.86.....mph
12.403.....1000
14.743.....1/4
96.29.....mph

4th run- walked on a silverado ss.
2.472
6.491
9.725
75.91
12.516
14.857
96.40

final run- i ran my buddies modded 350z. hes got intake, headers, testpipes, full exhaust, & lw flywheel. he spun em , short shifted to 2nd, then bogged down. i pulled about 3 cars on him he said, then led teh whole way til just b4 teh line when he got me. i lost by .0288. i was really suprised at my trap speed.
2.431
6.413
9.651
75.77
12.445
14.778
98.78

if only i could launch, i mite have had a 14.5. my mods are prcai, cattman gen 2 headers, 2.5" custom catback with a 4th gen cattman muffler, udp, and 17*

not bad for a car with ~173k on it and what i believe is teh original clutch. im toying with the idea of dropping the 3.5 outta my old car in.

Launching at the track is a bit different than the street.

I've been able to pull pretty consistent 2.1 60's on street tires by slipping the clutch from around 3,000rpms.

When you see the 2nd light hit the tree, let the clutch start to slip a TINY bit so you very slowly begin to roll forward. As soon as the 3rd one lights, slip much harder into the clutch and get into the gas enough that it revs up to 3500-4k range. Keep slipping the clutch out enough that you are starting to feel it spin, but still hooking up hard... As soon as you have let the clutch all the way out and you are still hooking up, you should be able to floor it.

Not bad times and like you said, if you had a better launch you should be running mid 14's. What tire combo were you running and what track was this at? Was your interior gutted?
